I worry if we make it to Omaha if this team is built for that big stadium. Are our guys capable of playing small ball for a whole tourney? We need guys like Ahuna and Dickey to quit trying to pull everything and use the whole field all the time. Seems like with every left handed batter the opposing team has their 3rd basemen almost at shortstop looking for the pull. We have to start abusing that like a red headed step child. They pitch lefties away so take that ball and punch it to left field.

I've watched Dickey go the other way plenty of times this year and last year for that matter. Dude is a professional hitter.

Still disagree. I coach never to leave your spot until after ball is hit or gets by batter. Play the ball first.

It’s all good. I really like y’alls game day threads. With my son’s baseball schedule a lot of times it’s the only way I can keep up. Y’all do an excellent job I just have to remember it is y’alls threads. Guess I just didn’t fit in. That’s ok. I’ll just go back to lurking….throw some likes, and drink a few when I can. Love our basevols. Hopefully I can convince the wife to do Omaha again. Son is already onboard.

Seriously, Florida is arguably one of the top programs in College Baseball, this is there first time back to the CWS since 2018.

Baseball is hard, winning baseball is even harder.........

Freaking Gators are playing as good of baseball as anybody right now.

Yes but here lately they all are trying to pull the ball to often. Thats why you see so many strikeouts on balls away. If they tried going with the pitch more it would help. I never said they never go the opposite way. But the defense plays the shift for a reason.

I have not seen it from Dickey is my point. I have seen him trying to uppercut some balls and strike out.

Thats another issue. Trying to hit the homerun every at bat until they get two strikes and havr to get into defend mode.

I think you can call Maui out on it. Then again Maui is not as good of hitter. It can be hard to go the other way especially when they are pitching into the shift. When you lump in Dickey then I think you are reaching.

That is most batters anyway. The question is what can you do when they put the shift on.

I’d like to see our guys 2 strike approach be to choke up, make contact to try to put it in play. Maybe that’s not what Elander coaches, but it seems to make sense to me.

Hitting opposite field with solid contact is astronomically hard especially in a lefty vs lefty matchup
