I've watched Dickey go the other way plenty of times this year and last year for that matter. Dude is a professional hitter.I worry if we make it to Omaha if this team is built for that big stadium. Are our guys capable of playing small ball for a whole tourney? We need guys like Ahuna and Dickey to quit trying to pull everything and use the whole field all the time. Seems like with every left handed batter the opposing team has their 3rd basemen almost at shortstop looking for the pull. We have to start abusing that like a red headed step child. They pitch lefties away so take that ball and punch it to left field.
You haven't watched Dickey hit much, have you?I worry if we make it to Omaha if this team is built for that big stadium. Are our guys capable of playing small ball for a whole tourney? It’s all good. I really like y’alls game day threads. With my son’s baseball schedule a lot of times it’s the only way I can keep up. Y’all do an excellent job I just have to remember it is y’alls threads. Guess I just didn’t fit in. That’s ok. I’ll just go back to lurking….throw some likes, and drink a few when I can. Love our basevols. Hopefully I can convince the wife to do Omaha again. Son is already onboard.Sorry. I did not see your earlier post. Did not intend to pile on.
Nah man, there’s plenty of us that don’t know shiz about baseball. Post up with us. We out number the experts.Of course they talk to each other. Ok I give up. I’ve never watched baseball or as someone else pointed out I know nothing about baseball. Sorry for questioning a play. Sorry for messing up the game day thread. I won’t do it again. I’ll go back to lurking only.
Yes but here lately they all are trying to pull the ball to often. Thats why you see so many strikeouts on balls away. If they tried going with the pitch more it would help. I never said they never go the opposite way. But the defense plays the shift for a reason.I've watched Dickey go the other way plenty of times this year and last year for that matter. I have not seen it from Dickey is my point. I have seen him trying to uppercut some balls and strike out.Yes but here lately they all are trying to pull the ball to often. I think you can call Maui out on it. Then again Maui is not as good of hitter. It can be hard to go the other way especially when they are pitching into the shift. When you lump in Dickey then I think you are reaching.Again i never said he hadnt used the whole field. I said here lately they seem to be trying to pull everything. Hints why the defense plays the shift so often.
Not reaching at all. Every batter we have typically pulls the majority of their at bats.I think you can call Maui out on it. Then again Maui is not as good of hitter. That is most batters anyway. The question is what can you do when they put the shift on.
I would just like to see some sign of them working on off speed approaches at the plateI’d like to see our guys 2 strike approach be to choke up, make contact to try to put it in play. Maybe that’s not what Elander coaches, but it seems to make since to me.
