I wouldn't be surprised if Tennessee landed both Harris and Pinkston. Certainly the competition is thick for Harris, but Tennessee is in a strong position in that race. With Pinkston, Tennessee just might be the leader in a mix with Villanova and St. John's.
The word is that both these New Yorkers are communicating with each other and the possibility of playing together an attractive scenario.
If Tennessee were to pull off a double play, the Volunteers would be right there with cross-state rival Memphis for the No. 2 spot in the current rankings. I know Coach Bruce Pearl says Memphis isn't a rival because both schools aren't in the same conference, but I don't know how he could deny that the two schools are vicious recruiting rivals.
Memphis' class is attractive because of the elite backcourt of Joe Jackson and Will Barton. At this point, though, the class lacks a big man, and this hypothetical Tennessee class has better balance. It would have an elite power forward in Harris and a rugged and solid four-star prospect in Pinkston to go along with a top-60 combo guard in Trae Golden and a skilled top-50 wing player in Jordan McRae.
I might not even have to make this call because it is far from a sure thing that Tennessee lands both Harris and Pinkston. In fact, Tennessee could easily come up empty on both prospects. Nonetheless, I probably would give this hypothetical Tennessee class the edge over Memphis, at least the way I see it now.
I hope you're right. If we get neither Harris nor Pinkston and lose in the NCAA's first weekend, I fear that Bruce's program will begin a steep decline. On the other hand, if we get both of those guys, make the Elite Eight, and have multiple guys drafted next summer...well, that would mean Bruce is going to stay competitive with KY for the long haul, and someone on VN will have a lot of crow to eat.
We can only hope. I hope it all plays out in our favor. Go Bruce!

The one surprise, for me, in this news is that we are ahead of Syracuse at this point. He' s obviously not a Cal-type player and Louisville was a wildcard, but that's a mess up there right now. Georgia Tech and Maryland seemed like throw ins. I always thought it was the Orange followed by WVU and UT. So, I worry about Huggins and the upcoming visit. I'm trying not to get too excited because every program gets burned on the recruiting trail from time to time, altough we are due for a break our way after the Selby fiasco.
Im not sure where you got that from, it seems like right now Syracuse is the favorite. Alot can happen in the next two weeks but right now I think its syracuse in front.
I got it from the Tennessee mod (who is very good-not a homer) and Jerry Meyer. Both are very positive about UT's position right now and have mentioned UT is in front of Syracuse, but to watch for West Virginia.
I don't have any inside info myself, but those are two who are usually very good with the info. Of course, if you talk to most Kentucky fans, they will get him because.....well, they are Kentucky.
Jerry meyer never said tennessee was ahead of syracuse all he said was tennessee had a good shot to get him. There is a big difference between being in front and having a shot. The mods on the cuse boards who are also very good at stuff like that seem to feel syracuse is the favorite, so does adam zagoria and some recruiting guys on other websites. Like I said alot can change but I dont think ten is in front of cuse right now.
Zagoria lost some of my respect when he said UConn was the clear leader before Tobias cut them completely.
I do not think Zagsblog is a good source for where he ends up, especially when he has so few readers in the Southeast that it makes since for him to call anything in a pro Big East way.
In other news, I freaking love Syracuse football right now in terms of on the way back. I think you will be murdered the next two weeks, but I think you have an outside shot at getting to six wins and going to a bowl (if you can beat UConn).
Zagoria is usually very reliable I guess everyone can get one wrong. Like I said Im not saying syracuse is a lock but from everything I have seen and heard sounds like as of now they are the favorites.
I think our football program is headed in the right direction, It will take some time but its getting there. I think kiffin has you guys in great shape in the next few years, there is no doubt ten will be competing for sec titles and nat titles in the near future. I have been very impressed by your defense against bama and florida.
