Beautiful and LONG day at the ballpark yesterday, followed by a long drive back to Knoxvegas. Not as much smashing of baseballs in Jackson, but fielding was better. Our one dinger came from Levi Clark, who used those big ol’ legs to probably smash someone’s windshield on I-40. Several other guys got close but couldn’t quite get over the wall. Levi also had some good plays at 1B in the extra innings, and Hunter High had an impressive diving catch in the OF. I hereby install a requirement that we have a Hunter in the OF at all times. Pitching looked okay with some flashes of greatness. Frank will make the flashes more consistent. Young Ryan Combs has a lot of the mannerisms (and the number) of his big brother. Finally, our broken finger gang (Ariel and Bargo) and Marcus Phillips (who pitched Friday) win best cheerleader awards, consistently hyping up the guys from the dugout through all these innings.
I like hearing that Clark looked good at 1B. With Peebles and Lawless looking good, we’re pretty well set at Catcher. 1B is wide open.
