Why wasn’t that an error?

In baseball, if a ball is hit really hard and a fielder can't catch it, it might not be called an error. This is because the play might be too tough, requiring more than the usual effort to catch. The scorer decides this, and they look at how hard the play was and how much effort the fielder put in. So, if catching the ball seems nearly impossible, they're likely to consider it a good hit instead of blaming the fielder.
 
I don't think he had a play at first even if he fields it cleanly.
