I know you've probably said this elsewhere, but I'm a little late to the season... Was Kirby hurt? I've been looking for him each game and was surprised he hadn't gotten out there yet.they are letting him do some this year. He has worked with young LHP's, he does the PFP's with pitchers almost every day, and hits to fielders every day before practice. He is also doing an internship with the coaches this semester, especially Chad Zurcher and Sean McCann. So he is loving this year even though he has not gotten to pitch yet. He has been released to pitch so we should see him this weekend. Could have thrown yesterday but no reason to. Thanks for your support. Again the ride has been amazing.
He had a strain during the off-season and they were being very cautious, which I respect. He could have thrown this past weekend but they decided not to push it. He threw yesterday full-speed off the mound so he is released to full contact (I know that is a football term but I don't know what else to call it.). They just wanted to be extra careful. As V says, I need you in SEC play not first weekend or midweeks.
He came as 2-way. HIt .400 in HS. Was on deck 5 times his sophomore year and never got to the plate. He still hits at times in practice and still hits HR's but I don't see it happening unless they decide to give him 1 in his career. He actually told them if he got one reward something for 5 years he wanted to catch one inning. He caught growing up and as a backup in HS early on. He has a mitt and catches bullpens pretty regularly. I don't see that happening except maybe in a late mid-week. It would be neat for him to get to catch and then hit the next inning. I don't know that I would do it either but you can hope.Maybe I'm mixing up players, but any chance they let him pick up a bat this year? For some reason I thought I remembered Kirby working on the coaches to get an AB.
