Sorry. Not trying to step on anyone's toes but I'm excited!!!! We NEED this game so bad!

So......let's do this

Tennessee (9-10, 1-3) @ Vanderbilt (14-5, 4-1)

TV Coverage
ESPNU @ 7:00 EST

History
Tennessee and Vanderbilt will meet for the 180th time Tuesday ... The Volunteers lead the all-time series 110-69, dating to 1922 and have won six of the last 10 meetings ... UT's 110 wins over the Dores are the most by the Vols over any opponent, and only Kentucky (212 games) has been an opponent of the Vols more times than Vanderbilt ... UT leads the series 67-17 when playing in Knoxville ... Vanderbilt leads 50-36 when it is played on the Commodores' home court ... UT and VU have played every season since their first meeting in 1922 except for the WWII years of 1944 and 1945 ... UT is 11-5 in the city of Nashville since 2005-06.

Notes

- In SEC play, Vandy and UT rank first and second, respectively, in scoring defense (59.0 and 60.0 ppg)

- Tennessee's win over defending national champion UConn Saturday was the program's 1,499th alltime victory. Tuesday's contest at Vanderbilt is UT's first opportunity to reach the 1,500-win milestone.

- Through the games of Jan. 23, the Vols rank third in the SEC in 3-point percentage (.367), 3-pointers made (7.6 pg) while ranking fourth assists (13.5 apg).

- Jeronne Maymon ranks third in the SEC in field-goal percentage (.553) and fifth in offensive rebounding (3.1 orpg) while ranking sixth in total rebounding (7.7 rpg).

- Tennessee's SEC opponents are shooting a league-low .258 from 3-point range this season.

- The Vols have held three elite teams to their lowest scoring output of the season. Tennessee held Florida to 56 points, Kentucky to 65 points and UConn to 57 points. In their last five games, the Vols are holding their opponents to an average of 59.4 points (four of those opponents were ranked).

- Just three games into his college career, freshman power forward Jarnell Stokes already averages clost to a double-double with 12.0 points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds per game. Stokes was named the SEC Freshman of the Week on Jan. 23.

- UT ranks 49th nationally with 4.7 blocks per game. Interestingly, 45.6 percent of those blocks are by guards and 35.6 percent are by freshmen

As he strolled around the court before games, Vandy fans would ofen pelt Mears with oranges. When asked why he never even flinched, Mears replied, "They can't hurt me in my coat of armor".

Great game thread lots of good info. Thanks for posting. Thought the block star was interesting, credit McRae and Richardson with that ranking I'd say.

No, we dont get ESPN u. We have. Channel called ESPN America. That shows all our college sports. It's not on live either, they show it on delay tomorrow. Suits me I suppose because if it wasnt on at all I would be up all night watching it on some dodgy stream. Of which looks like its being filmed on a phone, thetefore the ball can't beeb seen for ****e.

We don't like to deny the ball and that's my concern tonight with Jenkins. He doesn't need much to release (twss), but if we are not paying attention and lagging behind on those screens with lazy closeouts, he will get too many open shots.
I would prefer a total ball denial to him and make them throw it over our head, but we'll see. He will be the difference in the game.

That's my most intriguing matchup to watch how well Richardson can defend Jenkins. Richardson can make a name for himself tonight.

Not worried so much about the defense, we have to be able to score though. Hopefully we've learned a lot since @UGA. Not feeling this one.

This is so much better than when yankeevol does it. Keep it up

Thx but for sure not trying to overshadow Yankee. Just got excited and jumped the gun :)

Something I found interesting while looking through a few articles that compare Martin and Stallings is...

- Both are from the St Louis area.
- Both played for and coached under Gene Keady
- Missouri Valley Schools gave them their first head coaching jobs
- Both jumped to the SEC

Stallings has always had nice things to say about Martin but it's hard to like the guy with his snotty, big headed attitude.

For sure. Richardson is a lock down defender and the rest of the nation that watches it tonight on ESPNU will agree. Guys a baller!

+1 A lot of people talk about Vandy and you think of all the shooters but their D is pretty good. I think Martin continues the "feed the post" trend and hopefully we can get Ezeli in foul trouble early. That would be major.

Exactly. And you know espn loves Jenkins and will be hyping him so if Richardson is able to do something insane and just completely shut him down they will climb aboard the Richardson bandwagon.

Does anybody else think stokes could have a HUGE game? Gilbourne will be matched up on stokes 1on 1 stokes would dismantle him everytime. Its gonna be interesting to see if vandy doubles him on the catch, if they let him go 1 on 1 watch out this could be a monster game for stokes.

Stokes is the story of the year easily.

I agree, but, Vandy will drop a guard back to keep him from putting it on the floor in my opinion. His move across the middle with his hook is lethal.
