Does anybody else think stokes could have a HUGE game? Gilbourne will be matched up on stokes 1on 1 stokes would dismantle him everytime. Its gonna be interesting to see if vandy doubles him on the catch, if they let him go 1 on 1 watch out this could be a monster game for stokes.

This is the "game changer" factor people were talking about when he signed. Stokes would pretty much destroy 95% of the competition 1-on-1. Just a hand full of guys could guard this man and I'm betting none of them are on our schedule right now. With the attention he's going to get when he touches the ball in the paint and his ability to pass so well for a big man, a lot of our players are going to start having big games. That's why guys like this make everybody on the team better.

And also, it's probably another reason Martin wants Stokes and Maymon together. He knows Stokes is going to get a lot of attention and the Maymon / Stokes duo just click together. Maymon could have some monster games.

It then is on our guards to hit the open shots off the kick outs from stokes. If they are gonna double you have to make them pay for it and stroking there's will end that double team real quick. Gotta hit the open shots!

Exactly why ccm started putting them on the sane team in practice. With teams doubling using the other post on the double thats an easy basket with good passing and communication. As Said stokes makes everyone better, now it's on those guys to make the shots when he finds them.

I just talked to some vandy folk that don't want to go to the game because "if we lost, all the ut people there cheering would piss me off".

No idea but you bringing that up just reminded me how I would of liked to have heard Bert when Jarnell came in against Kentucky. That guy always cracks me up and I bet he was super hyped when he hit that first shot. I'd love to hear Bert and Jimmy Dykes call a game together :)

To be labeled as a smart bunch, they sure do sound like idiots

this post match up just got VERY interesting. stallings has said ezeli is going to defend stokes, sounds to me like he is going to try and have ezeli guard him one on one and probably be very phsyical. if stokes can play smart and get ezeli in foul trouble this coud he HUGE. on the other side, gilbourne trying to hold his own against maymon in the paint should be very interesting to say the least.

Its possible to have both of Vandy's post on the bench with 3 fouls before the half. I think they will use the guards to keep them from being able to dribble and get position on shots.

if thats the case our guards need to make them pay, and you will probably see mcbee inserted into the lineup very early on as a counter by CCM. hopefully our bigs can get their big guys in trouble, and if they want to double well i sure hope the shots are falling.

Interesting. Stallings will earn his paycheck tonight. I hope Martin is able to run some isolation things that puts Stokes 1 on 1 with Ezeli because he'll eat his lunch. There is no way Gilbourne is physical and quick enough to keep up with Maymon. That's what you got to do though. Put your best post player against our best post player and hope for the best. Stalling, like pretty much every coach we face this year, will for sure go at Stokes early to try and hope his youth gets him on the bench early in foul trouble but hopefully the young man don't bite.

Vandy fans walking into the bar won't look at me and the blazer. They fear it. No doubt. None will look my way and awkwardly look up or down.
