KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Finishing the homestand and looking to maintain its red-hot play, the sixth-ranked Tennessee Volunteers face a strong Wofford squad in midweek action at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday night.

Tennessee (30-14, 11-10 SEC) is currently on a seven-game winning streak, having taken six of those games over top-50 RPI opponents. Wofford presents another top-50 RPI matchup as the Terriers (32-11, 8-4 SoCon) sit at No. 46.

The Vols have gotten it done with the bats and on the bump. Sophomore Drew Beam was
named SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week on Monday after tossing a complete game in the series finale against Mississippi State. At the plate, Christian Scott had an incredible week, going 6-for-10 at the plate with eight runs scored, two home runs, two doubles and nine RBIs.

UT's current seven-game streak ranks as the second-longest stretch this season for the Vols.

NOTABLE
VOLS ARE HOT

Tennessee enters Tuesday's contest having won seven straight, marking its second longest win streak this season. During the streak, the Vols have outscored their opponents 83-27, averaging nearly 12 runs per game.

BRINGING THE BOOM
After blasting six homers in last Tuesday's midweek thumping of Bellarmine, the Big Orange continued to leave the yard at an impressive rate with nine more homers during their series sweep of Mississippi State, giving them 15 for the week, which led the SEC.

Tennessee enters this week ranked tied for fourth nationally and second in the SEC with 93 home runs, averaging over two long balls per game (2.11). The Vols are on pace to hit 100-plus home runs for the second season in a row after blasting 158 last year. UT
also hit 98 long balls in 2021 after hitting more than 87 just once in program history prior to that season (107 in 1998).

So far this season, 17 different players have gone deep for the Big Orange. Fourteen of those 17 players have hit multiple homers, led by Blake Burke (15), Griffin Merritt (13), Jared Dickey (10) and Zane Denton (10), who all have double-digit bombs.

UT has homered in 33 of its last 37 games and has gone deep multiple times on 27 occasions this season. The Big Orange posted their 15th and 16th games with three or more homers this season after hitting four dingers in each of the final two games of their series against Mississippi State.

C. SCOTT SWINGING A HOT STICK
One of Tennessee's hottest hitters and a key figure in the team's turnaround over the last two weeks has been super senior OF Christian Scott. The Clarksville, Tennessee, native leads the team with a .480 batting average, 12 runs scored, four doubles, 12 RBIs, 10 walks, an .880 slugging percentage and a .629 on-base percentage over the team's last 10 games.

Scott slashed .395/.549/.658, drew 13 walks and drove in 15 runs during the month of April. His .549 on-base percentage led the team and ranked fourth in the entire SEC for the month.

In four games last week, Scott finished atop the SEC in runs scored (8), RBIs (9) and walks (5) while ranking second in batting average (.600). Scott recorded at least one hit and scored a run each time out, including a pair of multi-hit performances in wins over Bellarmine on Tuesday and Mississippi State on Saturday.

Wofford had 2 non-conference games this weekend.
They were shelled at Wake Forest on Saturday and Shelled High Point themselves on Sunday.

Terriers took big series the weekend before vs. Samford.

They are the highest ranked RPI team in SoCon as Mercer is #103

They have 2 guys batting over .400 (Sr-1B) Ryan Gelanie and (Sr-C) Cameron Gill

Gelanie has 14 HRS and leads that category by 7 over next player.
So they are not a big HR team

The team does strike out a lot

Their midweek pitcher appears to be RHP Mike Eggert (4-1) 4.18 ERA in 9 appearances and 4 starts. 23.2 innings. 4 BB and 19 SO, Givng up average of .280
Eggert has gone 5 and 4 innings the last two weeks in wins against Asheville and Winthrop

TXBO will love the game tomorrow. Guess who is #1 in sacrifice bunts in the nation?
They also are #3 in strikeout to walk ratio pitching behind WF and that terrible team in Knoxville.
#4 in batting average
#15 in fielding percentage.

Maybe we learn some things. They are for sure a small ball team. Do a lot of things right.

Good team to see to get ready for UK in a couple weeks. Lock in and stay on a roll.

Very windy here in East Tennessee today. Gusts seemingly up to 40 on occasion.
Normally when it's this windy, there's a baseball game.
Forecast shows a little less wind and gusts tomorrow but still fairly high. 15-25 mph instead of 20-30 light today.
