That’s a good point. Still, 97, 97, and 116 in 3 games is quite good considering last year we didn’t really seem to even sniff numbers like that. Just checked and our season high was 94 against Alcorn State and that was sandwiched between outputs of 76 and 84 against McNeese State and Eastern KY.
We scored 99 against Gonzaga and they are much better than any of the teams we played in Italy

Box score is so small, I thought it said 2-2. He was 2-3. Still, it seems he’s much improved there so far.
He has, and I believe may have gone 5-5 the game before. I only remember the miss feom yesterday because Bob and Bert commented how he needed to improve that one area of his game as a result of the miss.

8/14 overall from what I saw. (57%)

What i noticed in all three games is the amount of players we now have that can get the ball and advance it up court. I would love to see this team press and trap a lot more.

I had him 9-14 for 64% which isn’t great but slightly more respectable
I was going off freaks post in the other thread

I never understood the criticism of Gainey.

Looks to be a big contributor this year.

I mean...same thing was said about Key after he roasted Gonzaga last year.

I think every player on the roster has the potential to be a big contributor this year, but so many factors go into whether or not they will be. Health, minutes, execution with opportunities...etc.

Very deep team with a good balance of experience and talent I think. I also like the diversity of size and athleticism this year better than last.

Yeah, I’m cautiously optimistic about Gainey but there are only so many minutes on the court and we have quite a few upperclassmen guards. I also need to see how he performs in early November against some tune up games before I’m ready to make any sweeping declarations about him.

Julian balled out against USC…then we never really got to see it again.

Lots of minutes need to be played before we’ll really know what we have in the new faces.

Agreed, but he needs to work on two things. Defensive consistency, I saw several times where he just gave really poor effort on that end. He's got really active hands and made some really good plays at times on that end, but didn't bring it consistently. 2nd is offensive efficiency. He gets a lot of shots up, but he's not super efficient particularly inside. He looks like he could be a flamethrower from deep though, and he's got a lot of range. Efficiency aside, he's a guy that can create for himself and others, which we always need.

If you combine Gainey’s and Knecht’s total points, they’ve already put up 30% of the total points Key put up all of last year.

An opponent point guard's nightmare this season:
You endure ZZ's defense until finally he heads to the bench for a breather... and in comes Mashack.

I wouldn't be surprised if the coaching staff's "in-house MVP" at end of the season is Jahmai Mashack.

I also think JJJ's most valuable contributions this season will be invisible to the average fan.
