The only hotseat Butch is on...

Which is just ignorant. Charlie Strong was offered $4 mil per year but elected to stay at Louisville (for another year). Butch Jones is being paid market value for a coach who was up and coming but still unproven at this level. Your posts are all negative all the time and left unsupported by facts.

I mean, what did you expect from someone with a username like that?

If butch doesn't work out, whether he bolts to another school like so many other rent a coaches, or he gets fired..I say we open up the checkbook to our ol pal phillip fulmer and beg for his forgiveness and welcome him back with open arms. then watch in delight as be brings the program back to national prominence once again, just like he did once before

I just threw up in my mouth a little. Thanks

Can this thread even be happening? There's actually a thread contemplating what to do if Butch doesn't work out? Every time I think we couldn't get any nutser, you prove me wrong. :banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2:

The only "thing" Butch is gonna be on is a short list when Michigan cans Brady Hoke later this year. Don't think he'll be number 1, but he'll be on the short list.

Make no mistake, Tennessee will not get out bid by Michigan for the services of this coach. The only thing UM has on us with Butch is the fact that he came from there, and I would be surprised if that's enough to pull him away from us. Any moron (except some who hang here) can see what Butch is doing and the big spenders will pay to keep it going if necessary.

Now, can we all pull our heads out of our a**es and put this type of thread where it belongs, on a Gators board? Cuz, after we beat them, there's gonna be a major meltdown over there about who their new coach will be. GO VOLS!!!!!!:rock::rock:

I thought if we won yesterday, butch would have an extension offer on his desk tomorrow morning. He may get one after we beat UF this weekend.

You evidently didn't read the thread title or post. This is a thread making the case that Butch is ours and he has nothing to worry about. The threads you were looking for were down the hall and to the left.

I'm not for a big raise until we see wins. But until then there is absolutely no reason for butch jones to be on any hot seat within the next 2 to 3 years.

CBJ has recruited lights out and that has translated to us becoming better and better and becoming more and more competitive. I love Butch and I know he will get the job done and stay here for a long time. We will soon see the wins and that will translate into a raise. Only Jimmy Cheek would be so dumb as to try and fire CBJ before it is reasonable.

But right now all we can say is that he is getting closer and closer, and many will say he is unproven. I get that. That is exactly why missagain will won't go after an unproven coach in the SEC, even though so far he can recruit at a top level. Lots of guys can recruit at missagain....they will go after someone proven and famous.

I forgot to say that I agree with everything you said!

the only hotseat Butch is on is the one created by several of our own Drama Queens on this board.

You would think so but look at Brady Hoke's resume before being hired. He had three winning seasons out of eight years at Ball St and San Diego St....but your point is right. Michigan would have to really get far down on their list to reach Butch.

The head coach position is more than the X's and O's. The great ones do the following: He is a good game manager. Check! He is a great motivator. Check! He gets the fans out to the stadium.check! He is a great recruiter. Check! He assembles a good staff. Check? That last one will be determined when we have an above average o-line to work with. But, I do see Butch making the appropriate moves if he feels we need a change in coordinators and other staff positions. Pay the man!

Jones is under contract until 2019.

Maybe they should make a bowl game before talking extensions.

Oh, I did not know that. Does anyone know where he ranks in pay vs the other sec schools? If he is in the bottoms 25%, that should be adjusted from what I have seen out of him. He at least should be making what Muschamp is making. I'd rather have Butch over two of him.

You educated me with your post...no sarcasm.

What was it that made the wild dogs hire him in the first place? IDK and am just curious!

He is on the low end but I don't think Hart needs to even entertain an extension just yet.

Hamilton fell into that trap with Dooley.

I remember a time when people were worried about him bolting for Georgia.

Jones also gets bonuses for bowl games and potential championship appearances. Not sure how those shake out compared to other coaches but he will get 100 K for simply making a bowl game.

That was a quick Google search from Saturday Down South. Screwed up posting the link.

You are obviously a troll. No way in the world is Fulmer the future plan.

It's Butch Jones. He has worked non stop to fill the roster left by the human excrement of Kiffin and Dooley. Pay the man and his staff and continue the process.

Have our fans learned nothing about not having coaching consistency.

Never say never. Remember Pitt hired johnny majors back years after he had been coach there before.

If Butch wants to leave, he'll leave. He's the 18th highest paid coach in the country. We're not even close to being the 18th best team, or above that, in the country. Barring winning the SEC this year he'll have no argument to demand a pay raise, and Tennessee can not afford to **** up again in regards to coaching. He's shown he can recruit. He's shown he can develop players. Now he'll have to show he can win. If he does that, he and his agent should both know that Tennessee will pay him whatever he wants.

As for now? If he wants to demand a raise at the end of the year? Hit the road, jack.

The pay seems to be about right for now.

Yep.

I am not a Richt fan but there is no way Jones should be making more than him until their SEC resumes are closer.

I don't dislike Jones and think he has done an excellent job with the circumstances.

But falling into this trap of " we have to pay someone to keep them from leaving" led to essentially giving a life time contract if Fulmer could win 8 games a year and paying Dooley 1.25 million a year to NOT coach here.

Just let Fulmer be. He was a good man. He was good head coach in his tenure here except for the last few years. His tenure reminded me a lot of Mack brown in Texas. He took us to the next level and we remained there for quite awhile, but in the end we faded as did texas. Texas is experiencing what we did right now with a Kiffin type situation.

I think Dooley not coaching here is worth 1.25 mil. I'd even go as high as 2 mil , even if we had to pass the hat around at every home game. The Dooley fund, lol.
