The only VFL from now on

Man y'all acting like you wouldn't quit and go to a competitor if they offered you more money than your current employer.
Let me fix your statement:
How many athletes wouldn’t go to another school if their fans were willing to pay more money

College will be just like the NFL. Big market teams and small market teams. Most of the teams spending the biggest on players are the largest schools ( or Knight at Oregon). Tenn will always be behind the Texas’ TOSU, aTm, Ga, PSU, Mich, etc. if those schools choose to promote NIL. Ala is a blue blood and is already feeling the effects of fan apathy towards this monstrosity called NIL.

It's likely that from now on that the term VFL will mostly be applied to fans and former players. Most (I said most) of a recruiting class will not be on campus after a few seasons. The fans are Tennessee's greatest thing going and will get let down the most. Many fans that live month to month buy tickets to watch millionaire's play is ridiculous. How long will we care if it continues down this road.
Most of the month to month fans are watching on TV. I haven’t been to a football game since Butch was HC. It’s easily a 1000 dollar weekend for those of us that need a hotel.

I am a native Tennessean born in 1950. My dad was a native Tennessean born in 1928. I began following the Tennessee Volunteers since I wad old enough to know what a football was. The first signal caller I remember was Mallon Faircloth a single wing tailback in 1957. 67 years later I'm still following Tennessee Athletics. I am a VFL and Noone can tell me different.
Amen brother

I don’t people even realize that’s what they are saying. I totally get the frustration of fans and something has got to give, but what they’re basically saying is “it sure was more entertaining when the players’ rights were being violated, and the payments were under the table where I could pretend I didn’t know what was happening.”

This OP is absolutely right.....VFLs are in the past. Former players and REAL Tennessee fans! The only way this sh(t show changes is when the fans demand it. When college football starts losing it's fanbase, is when it will be changed. After the College Football Playoffs, and all bowl games are over with, see how much the TV ratings will fall compared to last year. I used to care about all SEC team bowl games..........I probably won't even watch . I've already missed the SEC games so far. Turned off the UT game in the 3rd qtr.

No, what's nonsense is players making 6-7 figures and ain't done nothing to deserve it.
Well they made or will make their respective Universities 7-9 figures. The people/companies they are promoting are getting something out of it. The fans are getting entertainment out of watching the players. Guess the player deserves nothing for bringing all that.

The Universities are not even paying them so I guess they are making piles of cash without deserving it.

It will take a long time for it fans to turn sour. It is absolutely real that you could paint a frozen turd orange and sell them by the truckload because... GBO...

Regardless of the state of Vol, there are (a majority?) of fans that have immersed their lives in UT football. It has become a necessary deflection from their inane lives often too centered around boring jobs such as pole climbing and hole digging. They reside in a state of habitual loneliness and cling on to artificial crap of all kinds; drugs, alcoholism, sports, etc.

Sorry, but you don't know what you're talking about about. Every franchise in the NFL spends the same on their players. It's called the salary cap. You're thinking of MLB
