I don’t understand most football fans around here. I think I’ve figured out why people hate the Patriots. The same reason people hated the following people at one time or another; Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, the Yankees, and Alabama Football (at one time) -because they are winners. Most people truly don’t want to see you have real success in life! It’s true!

Nobody hated them when they one the first 2 Superbowls. You can mess up and win one Super Bowl, but if you start really building a dynasty and dominating the opposition people will hate you because of it. I guess its jealousy, but I applaud greatness and I am a fan of hard work, perseverance, determination and all the things the make up greatness.

How can a REAL football fan not have pulled for the Patriots this past Sunday, unless you’re a lifelong Giants fan and we know there weren’t many of them before Sunday. Say what you want but Belichick takes players that everyone else thinks is washed up or doesn’t have what it takes and then makes champions out of them, just like someone else I remember –The Bear! I never thought I would see a perfect season in the NFL during my lifetime and it killed me to see it fall through with 30 something seconds left. And honestly, I haven’t been a lifelong Patriot fan, but I am a fan of the NFL and of what they have been able to do in the past 7 years or so. People didn’t hate them when they beat the Rams in the Super Bowl of few years back. Oh but once they continued to school other teams the HATERS come out! Ridiculous!

The Patriots haven't won anything the past three years and I still don't like them. I also totally disagree with you about how a real football fan would have root for the patriots.

Whatever - people hate winners and thats the bottom line. I respect what they did and still think they are one the greatest teams ever. I admire that king of effort - I dont tear them down because they are successful.

By the way they have a pretty good record over the past 3 years- even though no superbowl.

I have always disliked them going back to the Bledsoe era. I am a huge Manning fan and the Pats and Colts are rivals now so I don't want them to win. I also can't stand Belichick. He has no class and is a sore loser. Why would I be jealous of a football team anyway?

I was a Bulls fan back in the day, and my favorite team since I was a child (when I moved to New Jersey) is the Yankees.

I would say it's just natural for people to pull for the underdog in those situations.

Probably the greatest team to not win the Super Bowl, does that make you feel better?

Remind me what they have won over the last three seasons?

Yay for the AFC East crown!

what I really don't understand is the thinking of Patriots fans/apologists. According to them, the Giants should have just rolled over and played dead so the Pats could be 19-0.

People hate cheaters, Stone Cold Steve Austin. I dont think of them as one of the best teams ever because they did not win the championship...In my book to be mentioned as one of the best teams ever you need to be the best team in the league which they were not.

Ok, I won't hate the Patriots, I'll just continue to root for whoever they are playing. Fair enough?

Very good team....Championships determine greatness...not one of the all time greats. IMO.

So are we to assume, for this year, your favorite teams include Florida in CBB, LSU CFB, NY Giants, Red Sox and Spurs?

It's been over a week and the bandwagon fans are still upset. They lost, the perfect season is over.

Why do we hate Bama, Florida, etc. BECAUSE THEY ARE THE COMPITITION! THE only people who should be Patriot fans are people from the area or lifelong fans of the Patriots. Not some fairweather fan who will be a die hard whoever the flavor of the month fan next year!

Wow, here's the bottom line, the Patriots choked away an opportunity to go down as the greatest team ever. What little respect I had left for the arrogant jackasses flew out the window when they couldn't score more than 14 points in the biggest game of the year. Bottom line, I don't hate the Patriots because they are winners, I hate them because they are losers.
