The Rams,Chargers and Raiders file for relocation

I'm pretty sure all 3 teams' leases are up; the Chargers and Rams for sure. I can't imagine any of the teams staying if they announce they are leaving.

St. Louis it's probably going to be rough no matter what; if the NFL shoots down him moving, then he has to go back to a place he's flipped off and said he doesn't want to be in. I'm sure that will do wonders for season ticket sales.

The Raiders lease was extended only for the 2015 season.

True, but make no mistake, Qualcomm Stadium is a dump. I truly don't blame Spanos for wanting out of there if the city isn't going to work with them. Not to mention they're a hop, skip, and jump away from LA as it is.

And even though they already have a strong contingent of fans in LA, the Raiders is the fan base I'd feel the worst for. Oakland fans are absolutely rabid.

Good on San Diego for not working with them. Current model is insane.

A league official last night told me there is a real possibility Los Angeles relocation happens today. It's all moving in one direction.

Looking like it will be Rams and Chargers.

Wow, if that's true, I didn't see that combo happening. Arguably the Raiders are the team that wants/needs to move the most.

I thought the whole thing with the Chargers was they were going in with the Raiders on a stadium. Does this mean they are fine with footing 100% of their side of the bill without the Raiders? Or does this mean the Rams will take their place and the Rams' owner isn't going to build a separate stadium?

Maybe in the ultimate twist, the Raiders move to the new stadium in St. Louis.

St Louis would likely just be waiting for another team to relocate in that scenario, like they were after the Cardinals left.

Maybe Jacksonville if it doesn't end up in London.

Edit: although I guess STL gives Goodell the excuse to make two expansion teams so he can put one in London...I have no idea how he'll properly align 34 teams though.

I still would like to know how the crap a London team is going to work. I mean a few games a year is one thing, but every week one team going there or them coming here?

That's why I wonder if Goodell is going to sort of promise St. Louis an expansion team since they are going to end up getting somewhat screwed since they were willing to build a stadium. I mean it may end up being an empty promise, but I know the NFL frowns on teams moving from markets that are actively trying to meet team demands.

To me the best case scenario would be the Rams go back to LA, Oakland and San Diego work out stadium deals with the Raiders and Chargers, and St.Louis gets an expansion team in the near future (or gets the Jagaurs since they're about the last team left that won't be very stable). But it doesn't sound like best case is going to work.

It's an enormous city, it expands the brand, and Goodell has been pushing for it for several years now.

I think his comments at the super bowl last year were that the league was either a few years or like 2 years away from it or something...I'd have to find the articles again.

Um, ok? That's great if I had asked why Goodell is pushing it; I understand why he wants it, I said I don't see how it's going to work having just 1 team 8 hours and an ocean away.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Still, I was trying to get across that they really want it...so pretty much they'll make it work.

The NFL's six-owner Committee on Los Angeles Opportunities has recommended the joint bid between Raiders & Chargers.

Well...

NFL owners' Los Angeles relocation voting underway

A proposal that would move the St. Louis Rams and a team to be determined to a yet-to-be-built stadium in Inglewood, California, leads 20-12 after the first round of owners' voting, according to a Los Angeles Times report.

Despite the early lead, no official decision has been made, as the necessary threshold of 24 of 32 votes has yet to be reached.

A San Diego Chargers-Oakland Raiders partnership that would put the two teams in a stadium in Carson, California, is the other proposal under consideration.

The vote is being administered via secret ballot, according to ESPN's Andrew Brandt.

The NFL's six-owner committee on Los Angeles opportunities earlier recommended the Chargers-Raiders project, which would build a $1.7 billion stadium in Carson, sources told ESPN, confirming multiple reports. However, it appears that such a push did not lead to the proposal surpassing the Rams' relocation bid on the first vote.

Rams owner Stan Kroenke has proposed to build a $1.86 billion stadium in Inglewood. Earlier Tuesday, a Rams-only proposal was denied by the owners, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Also Tuesday, the league made a presentation on the stadium proposals in the home markets of San Diego, St. Louis and Oakland, clearing the way for all three teams to be eligible to move.

The Rams presented their project on Inglewood first, followed by the Chargers and Raiders -- which included Disney CEO Bob Iger, who is a consultant to the group. The NFL made the final presentation.

Disney is the parent company of ESPN.

Though all 32 teams are represented, Tennessee Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk is the only owner not at the NFL owners meetings in Houston.

The Titans said Adams did not attend the meetings because the organization remains focused on hiring a general manager and head coach. Team president and CEO Steve Underwood is representing the team at the meetings.

Coincidentally, the Titans are last NFL team to relocate, moving from Houston to Tennessee prior to the 1997 season.

Rams and Chargers moving to LA is final.
Dodge will have to get in on that sponsorship opportunity.

Have we heard that they've gotten enough owners votes for it, yet?

The last I heard was that the Inglewood Stadium (the Rams) was the favorite idea, with the Chargers getting first choice of if they'd like to go as well, before the Raiders.

(Not saying you're wrong.)

Poor raiders

Apparently there's really strong opposition towards moving the Raiders to L.A. among the owners.

Apparently the "Rams/Chargers" proposal was Jerry Jones's idea?

Can confirm that Jerry Jones #Rams/#Chargers proposal is on the ballot

The Chargers have said in the past that they would have zero interest in the Inglewood site.

NFL Los Angeles: Chargers not interested in stadium with Rams - NFL - SI.com

The San Diego Chargers are committed to joining the Oakland Raiders for a new stadium in Carson, Calif., and have no interest in the Inglewood stadium project, reports USA Today’s Brent Schrotenboer.

“On December 7, the Chargers made clear in writing that we had zero interest in the Inglewood project, and nothing has changed since then,” Chargers special counsel Mark Fabiani said in a statement. “Our L.A. stadium project in Carson has the most central location, the best leadership with [Disney chief executive] Bob Iger, and the ample parking and easy freeway access to give fans the best possible game day experience.”

The Chargers and Raiders teamed up in hopes of relocating and proposed a stadium site in Carson, while the Rams’ ownership produced a 26-page assessment on a proposed move to Los Angeles, and are hoping to develop a $1.9 billion, three million square foot stadium complex in Inglewood. The NFL announced on Jan. 4. that all three teams had applied for relocation.

The NFL owners will meet this week to vote on the applications. In order for the proposals to be approved, they must receive the support of 24 of the league’s 32 owners.

The Raiders apparently bowed out.

IF the vote passes, the stadium would be ready by 2019, not 2018 though.

I'm not understanding this Chargers/Rams combo, unless that's now the only way they get to LA. I'm with TO, they had been adamant they weren't interested in the Rams' site.
