The Rap/Hip-Hop thread

How Fly Pt 2?

Man they've been talking about that tape for forever. I'd love for it to come out.

Stoned Immaculate was superb IMO. As good, if not better than Pilot Talk 1 and Pilot Talk 2.

If you guys like Wiz and KRIT I'd strongly suggest Curren$y and Smoke DZA

I can try to up some links if anyone is interested.

It's not fabricated, very laid back. Lifestyle raps.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about...I had heard they were trying to get it out before Wiz's new album dropped but I'm beginning to think it will be after.

Yeah go ahead and post some links. I've heard a little of DZA before.

I've been getting into the Black Hippy/TDE stuff alot more lately so haven't been checking out newer stuff in the past couple of months.

I must be getting old. I still listen to
Spice 1
McEiht
Short
Face
UGK
BALL & G
Cube
Dre
Pac
I have not even heard of some of the guys you folks are talking about. Wiz, but that was "black & yellow". Rock on young boys :hi: .

I own every Pac CD. I still listen to UGK and even alot of the old Memphis stuff. None of that will ever get old to me.

I still listen to Short as well.

Face is in my top 10. Have all of his and Geto Boys' albums. Still up the Face playlist every now and then.
UGK is also in my top 10. Have a WHOLE LOT of Houston in my library.

Ball and G are southern rap legends, also a group that I listen to still. I still play a lot of Memphis as well.

Cube, Dre, Pac will always stay in rotation. Always a fan of the West Coast Gangster rap.

sounds like you like a lot of smooth pimp/mackish rap. I think KRIT would be a new act that you could get into if you still listen to UGK and Ball and G.

EDIT:
just for fun I went to my library to see what songs came up under random for those artists.
Face - Jesse James
UGK - 3 in the Mornin
BALL & G - sittin on top of the world
Cube - true to the game
Dre - Lil Ghetto Boy
Pac - Keep Your Head Up

I have favorites that differ from what is listed, but that's a pretty good summary of what albums/songs i still have by those acts

I like songs that dont 'bring me down'. That tends to be old school. Totally lost touch with these new kids around 2002 or so. May be time to catch up and see whats going on.

Adf to that previous list
MC Breed
Dayton Family
Top Authority
Trick
Playa Fly
King T
DJ Quik
Gangsta Pat
Project Pat
Geto Mafia
Jim Crowe
Dirty Boys
Those are a few more.

A lot of the artists that people talk about in this thread are pretty much the new age version of those artists

Aesop Rock is gonna be in Portland in about a month and a half, I will probably go.

Do yourself a favor and definitely go. Last show of his I caught, he brought someone from the crowd on stage, put them in a chair, then "Haircuts" started playing. I'll leave it to your imagination as to what he did next.

Rick Ross.
