It's sort of hard to have an opinion about geography. The term Middle East really gets overused.

Two other tidbits to add - Iraq was shooting at our aircraft on a daily basis (generally consider an act of war or at least not very nice) and regime change in Iraq was the official policy of the US even prior to W being elected.

What a joke! We were flying over THEIR country! The next time you see unauthorized Russian MIG's flying over Tennessee you'll see the U.S. firing on them too.

One minor detail that you left out . . . part of their country was a UN imposed No Fly Zone.

...and the minor detail that you left out is that Iraq doesn't recognize the validity of the UN sanctions. I believe that if the UN enacted sanctions against the U.S. imposing a no fly zone over all U.S. land east of the Mississippi River we'd probably tell the UN to go to hell too.

The reason that America is hated all around the world is that everyone sees us as incredibly arrogant for thinking that we have the right to impose our values on other nations. If you guys would think about things from the perspective of a citizen of another country, you would probably see that they make some very valid points.

Exactly. My point was that why wouldn't they be shooting at our jets? They never recognized the no-fly zone.

Weird how that works isn't it? You surrender and agree to things then get angry when people try to hold you to the agreement.

They were authorized by the terms of the surrender/cease fire by the way...
