I looked into a franchise years ago, but you actually have to work the store as an owner. You can't just buy one and hire people to run it daily.

Not for sure, but I've heard that it is pretty tough to get into the franchise business. They're a lot more selective about who they will let open stores than other franchised companies.

They are. My sister has worked at the Alcoa location since she was 15. She graduates from UT in May, and goes on a nationwide tour of opening CFAs for a year. At the end of that year, she'll get her own franchise. Even then, she won't have to have up-front money for it, they just take an amount of out your check for ten years. The only negative is that they want folks from the south to take locations out west for a while, as CFA is just picking up out there. She's apparently already been told that she can choose between Utah or Northern California.

I sent her this video.

About 10 years ago I was at Myrtle Beach & me & my daughter ate at chik fil a. She won 100 sandwiches on those pull off tabs on the cup. I sent it in & they sent me a stack of 100 cards for free sandwiches that said no limit. I would go in & get like 30 sandwiches & 2 fries & take them to work.
