Back when we had the thread about how we thought the Vols would do with 10 games left, I said 4-6 with a possible NIT bid....I'm five for five in my first five picks....My last five went like this:

If it ends up like this, I see an opening round loss in the SEC Tourney....If that happens you have the Vols at 20-11 and 3-7 in their last ten games (including the SECT)...Do they get a NCAA bid with that record ??..Will the home January win vs #1 Kansas be enough to get the Vols in ??

I say this game today vs South Carolina is a must win...I question the Vols mental toughness regarding road games..If you want examples you only have to look at the Southern Cal, Georgia and LSU road games....I hope I'm dead wrong and the Vols can at least go 3-2 and win a couple in the SECT..I'm just not real confident right now and the home game vs Georgia did nothing to raise any expectations...

i think we win out besides kentucky....even though it might be a better game cuz its at home and we have some more size in brian williams....so hopefully chisim is 100 % by then...and tatum

We play well at home because we are playing in our home gym, not because we are in the same state.

SEC finals (why not?)
Win 1st game of NCAA, lose 2nd.
decent season considering

Tyler was here (4-1), same in SEC tourney, go to Sweet Sixteen and that's it,
so not much difference.

Why does everybody think the guys will lose to Florida? I don't see it. Bruce's boyz have Eddie Munsters number.

With our last four games, I just hope we can at least go 2-2. We will beat Arkansas at home, but the other three could be really tough.
If we can finish 22-8 in the regular season, and maybe pick up another win or two in the SEC tournament, then we should be able to maybe get a five seed.

I agree, but Miss St is going to be more jacked up for the game with UT than any game they've played this year. If they close well a win against us could get them in the NCAAs.

Plus they obviously have a lot of inside ability, which we've struggled with all year. I think UT wins but it will be one of the biggest fights we've had this year. BW is going to have to play some quality minutes for UT to win.

They haven't been good on the road and Florida is decent. I like Bobby Maze at the 2, it gives them more speed on the floor and he's looking for his shot more. I'm with you though, i think they beat Florida too. 8-1 against Eddie you really can't pick against Bruce there now can you?

As far as the UF game (and UF sitution, generally) is concerned, I have a few observations.

The game:

UT is much more athleitc, bigger, stronger. Florida has better guard play, I think. Florida will haveto shoot 3s well to win and will get very few second chance points because of UT rebounding advantage. If UF gets a lead late, I think they hold on. They were something like 23 of 25 from the line, on the road.

All comes down to how well Florida shoots the 3.

Overall: Florida is 6-0 this year against the SECW. If they beat UGA and win one in the SEC tourney,they should get in. If they beat UT, Ky, or Vandy, they are in.

I'm mildly worried about UT's NCAA hopes. There's a small chance we could lose out and enter the SEC Tournament at 8-8 in league play and on a four-game slide. We wouldn't have to do much in Nashville to seal a bid, but I don't want our first SECT game to be do-or-die.

Win the SEC Tourney (What the hell!), and get a three seed. Make the Elite Eight and become one of those great touchy-feely stories of the NCAAs, all about perseverance and atoning for past mistakes...

Bump some iron! Since the "10 Games To Go" thread was bumped by yours truly, I thought it prudent to send this one upward, as well. I was right about going 4-1 over the last five, had UK and UF games backward. We'll see about the SEC Tourney and 3 seed; Funny how it seems to be possible today. How did you do?

I called it right except for the Ark game. I figured they would win a big game against UK and come in and lay an egg against Arkansas.

Then you were surprised in a positive way; which is better than the alternative.

I can almost see the reasoning in being a ContraVol. If you expect the worst and good things happen then you are :).

I mainly bumped this thread for them. It goes back to accountability....
