The Rich Get Richer

So much talent to choose from
I said it on National Signing Day and I'll say it again: Florida is going to have the greatest recruiting class of all-time in 2010. I haven't seen a year this loaded with talent in a while and Florida is snatching up some of the best athletes out there.

Of Florida's 12 commitments so far, one is rated a five-star prospect (Matt Elam) and nine are four-star recruits, according to Rivals.com. Scout.com has Elam again being the only five-star and rates five of Florida's other commits as four-star prospects. It's not even May, so these rankings are sure to rise as the year goes on.

Rex: was this your quote or were you quoting somebody else?

Don't get me wrong, they are getting out of the gate really really fast, but I think it is too early to jump to such conclusions. Mack Brown, for instance, starts off this strong every year. Also, every year USC just sort of lingers in the background and then snatches up 6 five stars on signing day and ends up with a 4.22 avg star class. Which, by the way, will be a tough record to beat. Somebody will get a higher rivals number than USC had...(I forget the year when they had the best ever), but I don't see anyone else getting a 4.22 star class. That is sick. If florida does do it...I will be sick.

it was not me that said that, it was a UF recruiting guru. I will say that I agree with him 100%. I think UF's class is going to be sick.

Relax, the Gators will not hit 4.22. Anything above 4.00 is a wet dream. But we'll take that in a heartbeat.

Alabama's 2010 recruiting success continued this morning when a Rivals250 offensive tackle from Georgia made his verbal commitment to Nick Saban.

"I talked to Coach Saban this morning and told him I wanted to go to Alabama," said Jawuan James who stands 6-foot-6, 296 pounds. "My recruitment is over. I don't plan to visit anywhere else other than Alabama."

He better not, or Satan will pull his scholarship offer.

Saban has an 8th , degree black belt in hypnosis. If that doesn't work he'll douse you with BBQ sauce and threaten to throw you in a room with Cody and Fluker.

DeAngelo Benton, one of Auburn's top signees in its 2009 class, boarded a bus in his hometown of Bastrop, La. Monday afternoon. Eighteen hours later, he arrived on the Plains.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder didn't mind the long ride.

"I'm the happiest man in the world right now," Benton said Tuesday in Auburn.

The former Parade All-American will begin classes at Auburn Thursday. He'll attend team meetings this summer, workout with the team and prepare himself to make an impact for the Tigers this fall.
Benton, who most thought would re-sign with LSU in 2009, said receivers coach Trooper Taylor is a big reason he's in Auburn and not Baton Rouge.

"Coach Taylor speaks his mind," said Benton, who turned 21 in November. "He doesn't ever tell you anything wrong. He told me I could be a big help. This is a real big opportunity for me.

"I'm ready.

There are insiders on three different sites saying that Miami is falling apart in their in-city recruiting. Their fans said all Booker T kids were Cane locks till just about a month ago and now admit they wont get any. Same is in the process of happening at Northwestern high school as well.

The 'U' is in disaray. Marve was just a piece of what's happening down there. They almost didn't have a DC for the team until about two months ago. I think Shannon seems to be over his head.

We will take those S Florida boys. Gran will eat them up

Stanford with Verbal #15, Dallas Lloyd
QB, Dallas Lloyd of Utah has verballed to Stanford. Lloyd held offers from Miami, Nebraska, Utah, Stanford, BYU, Syracuse and Wyoming, and was at near the very top of their board from the very beginning.

Lloyd is LDS and anticipates taking his Mission before he starts at Stanford, so he will be entering as a freshman in '12. So while this is a QB verbal for this class, my guess is that Harbaugh will continue to recruit a QB who will enroll with the '10 class.

it is certainly a time for celebration if you are an LSU fan. That's four commits in the last four days (Maclin, Vinson, Gibson, and Fordham) - all of whom will play key roles in LSU's future.

Aaron Murray throwing to AJ Green, Orson Charles, Marlon Brown and now Da'Rick Rogers...WOW.These are all players with size, strength, speed and skill.

UGA is putting it together
