The albums gonna be terrible...Hope I am wrong. I was a huge In Flames fan in the 1990s. Their McD Subterranean is a top five "album" for me.
I saw them in 2002 and then again in 2017. 2002 show with Slayer was fantastic. Gawd they took a Fkn nose dive 15 years later! I don't believe any of the original members are currently in the band now. All the albums after colony are either sub par or complete crap. They didn't even play their old songs the last time seeing them live. Imagine paying money to see Metallica and they only played songs off the black album or load. Agree with you, subterranean is great.
I watched one of their most recent performances and they played a few obscure songs from The Jester Race. It was the best I’ve heard them live since the early-mid 2000’s. The impression I get from them right now is that they’ve got a fire lit up under their butts. They have the talent to put out a good album if they really try. They’ve always been a lazy band though, and that’s been pretty well documented over the years. I remember a producer years ago complaining how they spent more time drinking beer and playing video games in the studio than writing and recording.I saw them in 2002 and then again in 2017. 2002 show with Slayer was fantastic. I was a MASSIVE In Flames fan in the 90's..then they dropped Reroute to Remain and I was like "uh..whats this". The follow up, Soundtrack to Your Escape wasn't terrible but after that I totally gave up on that band. Jespers new band, Halo Effect, is like the In Flames we all deserved but never got after the 1990's.I watched one of their most recent performances and they played a few obscure songs from The Jester Race. I remember being so disappointed in RTR. They seemed invincible before that album came out. I still check out each album, and there are some newer songs I enjoy, but the stuff up until Colony was insanely good.
