The Rock/Metal Thread

Is Greg here? I have seen cannibal corpse five times. They are fkn bad azz. CC, slayer, and opeth are among some of the few I have seen that sound pretty much the same live as they do recording an album.
Slayer was the most intense live show I’ve ever attended. They opened up with Killing Fields and the whole floor turned into a violent pit immediately. I’ve never seen that quick of a reaction or as big of a pit as when that happened and it really caught me of guard. Usually at shows you know exactly where the parameters for the pit are. Tom Araya cracked me up. After songs like Angel of Death he’d be so nice and thank the fans for coming out and at the end he said something along the lines of “everyone buckle up tonight and have a safe ride home.”

The first time I saw slayer was in 1999 during the Diablous in musica tour (16 years old). You are correct, the pit was extremely violent but super fun throughout the show. They played a two-hour set. Easily one of my top 5 shows. The second time was at the tabernacle in ATL on their God Hates us all tour. Equally as exciting in comparison to the 1999 show. Soul fly, In Flames, and some other band I forgot played with them too.
