Last weekend, during a rain delay at the PGA tour stop in Tampa, Daly went over to the Hooters tent and drank for a couple of hours. Came out and shot an 80 and his swing coach Harmon fired him as a client.

Today, Daly was supposed to appear for the pro-am for Bay Hill here in Orlando. He still hasn't shown up and he may be dq'd from the tournament.

John Daly misses Pro-Am tee time, might be disqualified from Arnold Palmer Invitational -- OrlandoSentinel.com

I have it on good authoirty that when he comes to town here in Orlando he frequents a certain establishment until the wee hours of the morning. It is not a place amenable to early morning tee times.

If it gets to the point where he is not being allowed to play, I'd say its pretty obvious.

I think he is quoted as saying he lost 30 mil gambling. Addictive personalities I suppose.

Daly has been battling alcoholism for quite some time now. He goes into some of the details in his book about it..... habitually drinking a fifth of liquor in one sitting, pissing/gambling all his winnings away, his rocky personal relationships.... it is pretty sad.

Maybe this analogy doesn't fit quite right but it seems to me this waste of talent is similar to what the Replacements did...couldn't get out of their own way...so much talent but not focused enough...when that kind of talent is centered it can be breathtaking...I hope he can overcome this someday...too bad

Daly did get DQd. I think he may finally have put the finishing touches on his career in golf.

Everybody wanted him to make it but him. An awful story.

Just to bring it full circle for Vol fans, in the Hooters tent he acquired the services of Jon Gruden to loop for him on the back nine.

As a Memphis golfer and a patron of the Tunica Casinos, I have several personal encounters with Mr. Daly. People gravitate towards him because he is a good guy that loves to drop money in large amounts.

Trust me OWH - this is not the last of JD. He can play and he is a crowd draw, so he'll be at a tour stop soon.

Especially since it sounds like his missing the tee time was actually due to an official at the course giving him the incorrect tee time for the pro am.

He must be a fun guy to hang out with and I'm sure that if you like any of the things that he is fond of, be it gambling, girls, golf, or beer, then he is probably a fast friend.

But in the end, when he is supposed to be on the tee at 8:40 a.m., he's by himself.

I hope he gets his act together.

Check,
Check,
Check,
and
Check.

Just for the record, I don't know him personally, but since we enjoy several of the same hobbies (mine are a little more in moderation) we have been in close proximity many times.
