The sad tale of John Daly

There was a quote in the paper today by Harmon that he was trying to make golf the most important thing in John's life but right now the most important thing in Daly's life is getting drunk.

I think he is quoted as saying he lost 30 mil gambling. Addictive personalities I suppose.

I read an article about John a few years back, mostly on his addictions and how they pretty much screw up everything he can get going for himself.

It's funny, how people with problems can justify their actions. He said things like "I'm not as bad with the drinking as i used to be, i don't drink Whiskey anymore", then sit down and drink a case of beer.

His gambling wasn't a problem anymore either, as he'd play $500 blackjack tables rather than $2500, and so on.

One can only imagine where he'd be if he had managed to keep off the sauce, and associate with some more reputable women along the way. I still pull for John, both as a Maverick on an otherwise pretentious PGA Tour, and as a guy, i would love for him to straighten out. But i've been down that road before with friends and family members, the usually don't straighten out until they lay dieing waiting for a new liver that isn't going to come. Being stupid doesn't make him a bad guy, though.

John Daly's biggest problem is he refuses help, and no one is forcing him to get it. They just want to use him. Interestingly enough back when he was with Calaway, they offered to get rid of all his outstanding debt if he'd just straighten up...I think we all know his response.

Supposedly they also made him take Prozac, which didn't agree with his system.

Daly has done this to himself. He can say he has made changes or whatever, but bottom line is he exhibits typical addict behavior. He simply trades one addiction for another. I wonder if one day he will become addicted to golf? I feel bad for him and I hope he gets some real help. Otherwise he is just gonna sink deeper and deeper until one day he can't get himself out of where he's at.

I'm not buying that. If it was just a misunderstanding and Daly's marketability was being impacted, why would it take several weeks for somebody to clarify what happened?

didn't Ben Wright say that breastesses keep women from hitting it as far as men?

i don't know if Ben Wright said it, but i do know Jenna Jameson said her breastesses kept her from being able to hit a golf ball well.:)
