The Savannah State Postgame Report

I'll say again. I look forward to seeing Yemi as a junior. He can be a consistent double/double player at the 5 and we haven't had that in awhile. He's not close to it, but the hands, feet, strength and size are there, as well as a pretty good understanding of the game.

Also had a couple blocks. Great find by Martin. Kid is just what we'll need to be a defensive force on the perimeter.

I know that Stokes should still be in high school but here is what he needs to do before next season in order to be a 1st team SEC Type player.

1. Reshape his body- lose about 20 lbs to 250
2. Develope his post moves
3. Develope is flexibility, he is stiff right now.
4. Get comfortable with the mid-range jumper.
5. Get better at the free throw line.
6. Learn to play solid D.
7. Increase his vertical.

He is Raw! but he is very talented and has a very high ceiling!

I agree he could definitely improve in alot of areas, but raw he is not in my opinion.

Say what??? Maybe in the paint, not on the perimeter though:)

Actually, our team can become a perimeter force.

Look at Kentucky. They do a great job getting ball pressure because Davis is lurking. You can close out on shooters and force teams to start their offense farther out because Davis protects the paint.

I think he interpreted it that you meant yemi would be on the actual permitted guarding people.

Agreed though, having a shot blocker down low makes your D ALOT better.

This is the stat line that I laughed at.

Woolridge played only 9 minutes yet shot 6 times. He was 1-6. He did have 7 boards.

Meanwhile,

Golden played 34 and shot 7 times.
Stokes played 29 and shot 7 times.
Tatum played 32 and shot 5 times.
Yemi played 16 and shot 5 times.
McBee played 27 and shot 5 times.
Richardson played 24 and shot 9 times.
McRae played 27 and shot 6 times.

I guess Woolridge thinks if he doesn't get to play much he might as well shoot. LOL.

I went tonight. I literally thought all 6,000 people were gonna murder the refs. Oh and I was hoping McBee was gonna punch that one guy lol

He did the same against vandy on senior day. Seems as if he is playing for himself and not the team.

Agree that CCM told Stokes to stay out of foul trouble.

Also, think that Jarnell could benefit from some time at Knoxville martial arts academy.

+1

I WANTED TO PUNCH BLACKMON. How the refs didn't kick him out is beyond me, I clearly saw a punch thrown.

Was it just me?

That's the most passive game I've seen him play. He got murdered on defense and only took 7 shots and got 5 boards against a team he should have physically dominated. He looked like Brian Williams out there.

He has some things to work on. I will probably get blasted for this but he isn't as dominant as I thought he would be.

His d is lacking. His footwork is lacking. His shot is lacking. His.offensive sets are lacking.

A good offseason and he can be really good. Its going to take some.serious work.

I wont bash you, your last paragraph makes it very rational.

He's a senior in HS, he has things to work on and anyone who expected a cakewalk was outside their mind.

Next year I expect all those things to he cleaned up, and to see a 1st team sec caliber type of player.

Its Blackman, not Blackmon. Fyi, can't believe he didn't get ejected for obviously throwing a punch. I guess you have to connect? Intent doesn't mater anymore?!?

My bad.

Biggest BS call I've seen in awhile.

Well since some put of bounds call vs ole miss I happen to hear about?!?!

Actually, correct spelling is Blackmon. Name was spelled wrong on jersey. ESPNU guys were talking about fact he was too nice to correct it once jerseys w/ wrong spelling were ordered.

He did not look "too nice" when throwing punches & elbows at McBree.

He has been very unagressive during his time here on D. It isn't something new. He will learn.

He played a lot more minutes than he has played in any other games this year. He still needs to get into better shape if he is going to play 25-30 minutes? game. Defense is the first to go when one is tired. The off season will do wonders for him and he will be a stud next year. When Yemi improves in the off season, we will have a much better inside game next year. We still need a PG and be more consistent from the three. JMHO
