The SEC East title could be clad in Big Orange next year.

I think Mizzou is good over the long run as their frosh QB is a pretty good one and they wont lose much that I am aware of. UGA, will find a way to disappoint everyone as they usually do, leaving us to deal with their fans. Bama .. will be Bama .. no surprises there. LSU ... who knows ... never know who will show up with them. Florida will have a new coach by end of next year. Vanderbilt ... Kentucky .... still at the bottom. Auburn looks like they will take over as the west number 2 and no worse than 3. T A&M will drop some after Johnny Crappingalloverthegameoffootball leaves and go flops in the NFL. The Miss. schools will set all new standards for mediocrity. Arkansas will be better off slopping hogs and letting them play. Bold prediction is that the OBC is gonna be out in USCe but .. the new coach will be an improvement over time.

which brings me to the main part of this prediction.

The Vols.

They will be improved. Very improved. 27 recruits and counting on the way in. More talent.... and depth that we are sorely lacking will make a big difference. Not only just for numbers but also for good healthy competition in practice. It makes you better. One thing I wonder is who the future QB will be after Worley as no QBs are recruited. Maybe is totally grooming one of the freshmen that are hopefully gonna be redshirted. That being said ......

I don't think we will be blown out of any games. Will be even more competitive this coming year than we are now. Our schedule is considerably weaker than this years schedule as well. I have hopes for more but ... I am gonna have to temper my expectations for championships and the like.

My prediction for the record will be 7-5 maybe 8-4 if some chips fall right. Oklahoma will be an interesting new game as well as Utah State. Nice to see us playing another big non conference school. Can learn a lot about a team and I will be watching with great interest.

I think we need one or two more years of great recruiting and some seasoning before we are totally legit. I feel like it is on the way and just over the horizon. Hang in there Vol Nation.... Hang in there........

Tennessee and Ole Miss will be the two teams in the SEC to watch over the next few seasons. The Vols and Rebs are definitely on the rise!

Butch Jones couldn't have been hired at a better time.

Landing top, once in a decade instate talent like Vic Wharton, Todd Kelly, and Jalen Hurd within three months of being hired got the 2014 class off to a huge start.

CBJ is also going to benefit from the weakest SEC East in years in 2014. Georgia loses Murray, USC loses Shaw and Clowney, and UF loses a ton on D and will likely be starting over on O with a new QB and offensive coordinator. Not to mention Bama loses McCarron.

Meanwhile, we'll be vastly improved over 2013, with key upgrades at starting positions (RB, LB, WR, DB) and improved depth.

It's all setting up for CBJ to take a huge step next year and win the East. And if he does, expect to see new head coaches at UGA and USC in 2015.

So in 5 or 10 years or whatever & we have a bad year you same guys can call for his head & say he won when the SEC was down, he got complacent, etc etc etc, bla bla bla.

Appears CBJ is on the verge of loading up with the top ranked Juco DL and OL prospects. Hard to believe, but they may not experience the huge drop off in line play everyone expects with all the senior departures.

Agree with this. We get Marcus Jackson back on oline next year too, and our young guys will all have 2 offseason strength and conditioning regimines.

My predictions for SEC East in 2014

1)Georgia(Georgia will be healthy much better than They are now)
2)Missouri
3)Tennessee
4)South Carolina
5)Florida(Florida is on a death spiral, will be looking for New football Coach after 2014)
6)Vanderbilt
7)Kentucky

The bad thing about Florida is that they will fire Muschamp. If you look at Florida's coaching pattern, you will notice something.

Spurrier hired = good coach Zook hired = bad hire Urban Crier = good hire Muschamp = bad hire.

As the pattern goes, once Muschamp is fired, they will hire another good coach.

If I had my choice, I would have Alabama to have Shula as their coach. Florida have Zook as their coach. South Carolina have Brad Scott as their coach.

My choice would be Dooley to coach all 3.

Winning the East next year is definitely a real possibility. While I don't think we will be "the real deal" next year, I do think we start catching some/making our own breaks next year and will end the UF losing streak as well as take down UGA and USCjr.

Yes we lose the majority of our Oline and Dline, but there is ALOT of talent coming in on the Dline, especially if we get Hendrix like everyone is saying as well as Lambert coming in. Obrien and Williams will be ready to start. As far as our Oline, we will have Blair, Jackson, Crowder, Kerbyson, and maybe.... maybe, by some miracle Tiny will decide to stay and try for the SEC championship.

The talent we have at the skill positions will be absolutely sick with Pig, North, Croom, Hurd, Lane, and God willing, Malone as well. QB will be much better next year no matter who it is. And as far as our back 7 on D, it will be just as nasty with the players we have now and depth that will be coming in for next year!!

We still have a ways to go, but I think we take a HUGE step next year and manage to win the East. Then in 2015... who knows!

Next year we'll definitely see improvements on field and add debt but doubtful of a title. Yes Georgia, Florida and USC are loosing talent but so are we...

We've got a good class coming in but so will the rest of these schools. NSD is still a ways off and I'm sure some will back out.

I do have confidence in Butch Jones and believe his staff will get us back on top in the sec.

We can talk about being #1 in recruiting, great coaching staff, studs on defense and beast on offense, but as your topic points out, the level of competition has as much to do with winning championships as all of the above. We were amazing in the late 90s and early this decade, but Alabama, Georgia and Florida as well as others were going through some down cycles. Only time will tell, but it seems we will be set up to have some major success.

When you say, '. . . early this decade,' do you mean the early 2000s? Because Dooley was our coach for this first three years of this decade haha.
