The SEC Is Bad.

I don't see it being worse than last year. They have Liggins who will be starting over Porter in a matter of time. Meeks is playing out of his mind and PP dominated us last year. We would've been swept sadly if he had played the 2nd game.

That's a stretch. Not a giant leap, but a stretch.

Why is that? We won by 2 or so I think. Kentucky missed a last second three. PP was their best overall player offensive and defensively.

That's all true, but if he would have played, the whole game would have been different. Guys like Stevenson probably wouldn't have scored as much. Crawford and Bradley would have put up fewer prayers and instead fed PP. It also would have been easier for UT to gameplan had the personnel not changed (but, I'm not saying UT would have been better off).

Also, after it was announced that PP wasn't playing, everybody, including me, forgot about UT's history against UK and expected UT to pull off an epic blowout.
After UT easily raced out to an early lead, I think they took their foot off the gas, thinking, "This is too easy" (because it was) just as UK tightened up on defense. I think it was then hard for the players to go from "Everyone's counting on us to crush them" to "We're in for a major battle."
They actually started playing better about the same time that I let go of the epic blowout - perhaps the players had that mindset too.

We might (not would) have lost the game had PP played.

Hat, are you still sticking with your prediction of Tennessee finishing third in the east? I think Fla and Ky are a year away from being a solid NCAA tourney team.

For now. I don't think any of those teams are close to finished products right now.

November has been awful for the SEC. Just last night, Florida gets beat by a middle of the pack Big East team and Alabama gets crushed by an Oregon team that lost at home to Oakland. There are going to be a whole bunch more losses and probably multiple coaching changes by the time this season is mercifully over.

This is like saying "He's dating the ugliest Victoria Secret model". Big East is loaded and will get 7-9 teams in NCAA. Beating FL and Kansas back to back is impressive.

Doesn't matter. When one of the two best teams in your league is beaten by team that could easily finish 8th in its conference, you've got problems.

Would you agree hat that the SEC is very much down this year and does not have a sweet 16 team in it?

I would typically agree except when it comes to the Big East the last few years. These are storied programs that would probably have 24-28 wins this year if they weren't beating up on each other.

Yes and no. The league is pathetic, but Florida, Tennessee, LSU, or Kentucky will get a good draw and go to the Sweet 16.

Dayton beats Auburn by 1 point, but here's the thing. Dayton went 0-24 from 3(NCAA Record) and still managed to win.

Kentucky barely hung on to win. Kansas State shot horribly. Mississippi State lost to Washington State today as well.
