The SEC needs to snag Texas or Oklahoma

Eventually won't everyone have 16 teams? So the SEC is gonna have to do something. I think adding Texas and Texas A&M would be a good way to go, however, they are so fussy with their recruiting opps. If I had my pick, it would be the two I just mentioned.

We can do it with or without them...we already did.

2009 “SEC ON CBS” SCORES HIGHEST RATING OF ANY COLLEGE FOOTBALL TELEVISION PACKAGE

CBS Sports College Football Season-to-Date Ratings Best in 14 Years
NEW YORK -- CBS Sports’ coverage of the SEC ON CBS for the 2009 season is the highest-rated college football package on any network averaging a national household rating/share of 4.4/10, up 29% from last year’s 3.4/8. This 4.4/10 is the highest rating at this point in the season since college football returned to the Network in 1996.
The SEC ON CBS season average of a 4.4/10 topped ABC’s season average of 3.9/8 for college football for the first time since 1990. The season was capped off by the SEC Championship game between No. 1-ranked Florida and No. 2-ranked Alabama on Saturday, Dec. 5 (4:00-7:44 PM, ET), which earned a national household rating/share of 11.1/23, +18% from last year’s 9.4/20 for the SEC Championship featuring Florida and Alabama.
The 11.1/23 was the highest rating ever for the SEC Championship game since its debut in 1992

Oklahoma and Missouri. Oklahoma would be a big steal, and Mizzou would give the SEC Kansas City and St. Louis markets. Mizzou might even re-ignite their sports programs and be the contenders they once were.

It'd be a great "west coast" for the SEC.

Here recently, i've always wanted Tennessee to play Texas in either a bowl game or non-conference game. I want The Big Orange to show who the real UT is. So what do you think the chances are of landing either Texas or Oklahoma?

Texas would be a ridiculous choice for the SEC. They have played few of the SEC schools consistently, save Arkansas under the old SWC banner, so there are no natural rivalries or even potential natural rivalries for Texas in the SEC. Perhaps rivalries could develop over time, but Texas would be better left out of the SEC mix, imho. OU would at least be a cultural fit for the SEC, but not too many cowboys in the SEC. Let Texas go to the PAC (?) or stay in a reconstituted weak 12.

Apparently Mike Slive disagrees with you, because Texas and OU were the preferred choices for the SEC expansion. We still have a chance with OU, but Texas is pretty much set on the pac 10.

I care for Tennessee's best interests, not the SEC's. I want whatever gives us the best shot at a national championship. Even if they added four mediocre schools, the SEC would still be a superpower, so that's what I'm hoping for. Texas and OU? Let that be the Pac-10's problem.

Slive is looking at the money/exposure angle while I was just pointing out the rivalries factor.
