It pains me to say anything positive about the puke orange, but I have no choice. Thank you, Texas. For what? Your decision to eschew the PAC 10 kept the SEC from adding a school loaded with pyromaniacally inclined faux soldiers in a jerkwater location to the league. Further, it ensured there was no reason to add a sewer like Blacksburg or Tallahassee to the equation. Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated. In fact, that whole Alamo/War With Mexico thing? We're square now.

I agree, but for the record I would trade either of them straight up for Vanderbilt.

Take all your shots at aTm you want, but youre out of line for making snide comments about Bon Fire.

I think that was pretty classless.

i thought you weren't a fan of mike leach

http://godelmetric.blogspot.com/2007/11/mike-leach-is-pirate-king.html

As his team raced onto the field, he gazed into the stands filled with screaming fans and wondered about the several thousand "cadets" from Texas A&M clustered in one end zone. They wear military uniforms and buzz cuts, holler in unison and stand at attention the entire game. "How come they get to pretend they are soldiers?" he asked. "The thing is, they aren't actually in the military. I ought to have Mike's Pirate School. The freshmen, all they get is the bandanna. When you're a senior, you get the sword and skull and crossbones. For homework, we'll work pirate maneuvers and stuff like that."

Adding TAMU and VT would have been okay by me.

Upgrade in TV markets and VT would have added another solid team to the East.

"We listened to our fat little girlfriends."

On the flip side, had A&M joined, I'm sure several SEC schools would have done a great job of making fun of their fake military.

Is that still done anymore or did the school stop that after that incident several years back?

Off campus Bon Fires are held without the consent of the University (formally).

You have top ignore Hat. He enjoys getting under one's skin more than anything else.

I think the majority of fans on here were happy to see us get aTm if we had to add anyone, but yet probably hoped the conferences would not turn into "mega conferences."

I really don't understand why people want Texas A&M so bad...does that team really excite you that much? We have the best conference in the nation with pretty much the perfect number of teams, and you want to expand to 14 just to add another average school that isn't even in the Southeast? Texas or Oklahoma would be one thing, but adding another 7-5 team to compete with Arkansas just isn't worth it...

I would have liked to see Texas A&M added. I think that a Texas SEC presence would have been a good thing all around and only made the conference stronger. I don’t think that it would have hurt A&M either as I think there recruiting would have gotten a boost.
