The SEC Tournament Thread

Are you arguing the fans booing, or trying to define a foul for everyone? He jumped in, wasn't set for that long, not even standing straight up (but was still set in time). He was probably a foots width from the line behind him. In a bang-bang situation, the fans dont see it in the crowd. My first reaction was that it was close. Took me another look on replay to see it fully. Its not like he stood there for 2 or 3 seconds while Harrison came into him.

I'm arguing those morons booing what was a blatantly obvious charge. You acted like the boo was warranted cause he was close to being in the restricted area. Now you're saying he was clearly out and it was bang-bang so they can't tell in real time. Was he close to the line or was it bang-bang?

You just admitted you want the path of least resistance, so I guess my logic isn't off base. Your fellow fan couldn't figure out why he cheered for Bruce, it was simple why.

I'd rather make history beating the top teams along the way, not double digit seeds. Last year yall griped your NCAA bracket was undeservingly tough now we want the weakest teams in front of us in the SECT. BTW, when's UK coming to Diddle? UofL has no problem coming. Y'all have ended the basketball "rivalry" and refused to come back to BG for baseball as well. Football is on hiatus. Seems to be a common theme.

Wouldn't every team want the easiest path? I think the SEC format is kinda dumb, but not sure how else you could make it better, other than just making straight seeding with one bye for top seeds. Every year, we seemed to get matched up with a ton of emotional matchups. Sure everyone could complain, since the NCAA should be tough. But I dont see how UK fans are special in the fact we complain that we face tough teams.

Cal is huge on the neutral court stuff. Which I can understand, but don't like. I wish we did play some of the instate teams more, like Murray/Morehead. We did play EKU this year right? Idk. Football team got tired of being embarrassed. Hopefully we go back soon.

Funny circumstances? Go back and read what I said. I said there's no point in filling the majority of the thread with comments about the refs and even comments about how vol players should commit hard fouls or even hit people.

Theres technically no point in commenting at all.

Hurting other players isnt debatable. Shouldnt happen. But everyone complains about officiating and to act like you are above that is laughable. The majority of your fan base has complained about obvious fouls. Its a glass house situation. Keep your lecture to yourself

How are those things contradicting? I said he was close, maybe a foot or two away. On replay, clearly out. In the stands, hard to see right after. It was a bang-bang play, not an obvious call, but they got it right. I'm simply saying it's harder to make that judgement in the stands than when you're sitting in your recliner staring at the HD screen.

Auburn has played about as well as could be expected. Nothing to be ashamed of.

The Cats should be well on their way to the SECCG.

auburn's 3 point shooting is pissing me off. good lord, just make 2-3 more of those and this game is more interesting. can't hit them for ****.

The point is a team that notoriously commits less fouls and shoots more FT than their opponents regardless of venue or circumstances has little claim to poor officiating.

When did I complain about officiating? When did I say I'm agreeing with every booed call? Not sure why you are trying so hard to lump every single fan into one huge group of ignorance. You already said you hate UK, so you've made your point.

Why does anyone post at all? Because we all have opinions. If you don't like my opinion then that's not my problem, sorry.

Cal's ending of the IU rivalry unless played on a neutral court (i.e. in L'ville), much like he tried to do with the UT-Memphis rivalry, looks scared, regardless if it is or not. In both instances, it was when the opponent was starting to rise. He had no issue playing Buzz Peterson or a handicapped Tom Crean. But once Bruce challenged for Memphis recruits, beat him a couple times and Crean did the same it was no longer a viable rivalry.

In fairness to them, many of those shots are well contested. Hard for Harrell to get in rhythm with WCS chasing him around.

Two feet away is not anywhere close. Hell a foot is not close. Heels potentially on the line is close.

Are you really going to nitpick at one call, to try and prove a point that the UK fans booed when they shouldnt have? If you want me to spell it out blatantly so you can shut up about it, then I'll say it. UK fans were wrong on that call. But sitting there in front of your tv is completely different than being there up in the crowd. I'd probably boo at first too if I didn't see a reply. It was on the side of the basket, and there's no way in hell you can say it was a clear call immediately. The initial angle you saw on tv didn't show the feet clearly. It took a replay to see them, and even then, like I said it was probably a foot length away. Hard to see when bodies are in the way. Booker on the court thought he was on the line. The way he hopped into the spot made it tough for me at least. If you saw it the first try that easily, then maybe you should go ref instead of Shows.

I despise Kentucky. I hope they lose. But he just wants something to ***** about.

I wasn't referencing you in my response to him. My response was in reference to the fans going bezerk in Bridgestone.

I've seen too many examples of stupidity to have a view other than jaded. I had a fan tell me one time that if we hadn't been so lucky to make so many 3's vs UK in a game we would've lost by more. When I said if yall hadn't shot so many more FT's it might have been even closer (both common sense statements and easy math). He proceeded to tell me FT's are part of the game and they earned them so you can't conclude that the game would've been closer. Apparently 3's that keep you in a game aren't part of the game.

I ***** because someone who roots for a team who is rarely on the wrong end of officiating came on our board last night and proceeded to preach that we shouldn't gripe about officiating. I also have little use for fans of multiple teams depending on the sport at hand.

It's all good. I think the only way you, me, or anyone can truly prove a point is to go through a good sample of games, and get a good look at the calls. A team like UK that pounds the paint with its 7 footers is gonna naturally draw more fouls than an undersized team that comes in shooting shots. Maybe I'm valuing that too much, but it's something I've seen happen in games when the opposing fans complain.

I'll end my arguing here with saying UK definitely shouldn't complain on a generic level about calls. But are there moments where we get screwed with calls? Sure.

I couldn't be worse than Shows. I've officiated in the premiere basketball league in all of the Commonwealth; Bowling Green Parks and Rec adult league. Even threw out a tech once after being called an SOB.

I agree about the rooting for multiple schools. I'm a Tennessee football, basketball, baseball, softball, and everything else fan. If LC was telling us not to complain about officiating then I retract my statement. But every fan base does it.

If one post makes you this mad, then I'm sorry for you. If you don't see the pointlessness in making a game thread filled with almost all complaints about refs, then it's fine. It's VN, you all do what makes you happy.

spamming the thread with nothing but trash for the refs (and some comments about hitting arky players) is stupid

There ya go.
