The SEC will be easier at the top and tougher at the bottom.....fair?

Florida has a good chance to finish with a better SEC record and better overall record than last year, but I still don't think that means they have a better team, just an easier path.
Our schedule, both OOC and conference, is going to be extremely difficult. If we do have a better regular season than last year, it won't be because of an "easier path."

I wouldn't underestimate UK. Come regular season play we'll be playing team ball as well as any SEC team. Barring no injuries *knocks on wood*
My only concern in playing TN is the rebounding battle. I have a feeling Noel might get thrown around like a rag doll against Stokes. His strength alone will be a nightmare. I've noticed over the years the team who dominates the boards typically wins the game. TN will no doubt lead the SEC in rebounds.

To the poster who predicted us to finish behind Mizzou....c'mon now...

I'm interested to see how this team "gels". Cal has always had the upperckassment experienced contributors to help gel the younger kids and it has worked. This year he doesn't have that, and the freshman will have to grow up REAL QUICK.

I've been a lot more down on Kentucky than most...I think they will struggle compared to past seasons under Cal.

Oh there no doubt we'll be down. Resembling our 2010-11 season if not worse. But alot of ppl put too much emphasis on veteran players. Sure Darius Miller played a big role for our team last year but he was in no way the best player. 6th best to be accurate. For instance if we needed a last second shot, no doubt the majority of UK fans would want MKG or lamb taking it.

No he wasn't the best, but he was most important behind Davis. With no miller I think you lose 5 games last year and don't win a chsmpionship.

BTO, did you see where the Harrison twins just committed? :D

Yup, not a big surprise, Gordon may follow. I've been saying awhile, the 2013 class could be Cals best ever, and we know how high of praise that is.

That's another reason why it's essential we recruit and land guys like hubbs and Nichols, need that talent to compete.

You gotta wonder if this will be UT best class if Counzo gets who he wants. How many 5* did Pearl recruit while he was there. All i know of is T Harris

If Nichols committs it'll be close, but the 06 class of Pearls on paper may top it.

I don't think they'll get Gordon, but a class of the twins, Wiggins (if he reclassifies), Randle, and Marcus Lee would probably be the best class ever. Hopefully Florida can steal Randle away from Kentucky. :good!:

Out of the top teams in the SEC, FL has the hardest SEC schedule, IMO. KY twice, MU twice, TN away, Bama at home. I can see them 3rd or 4th in SEC just because of their schedule.

Bama might not be the best team, but could easily have the best record in the SEC. They have the easiest schedule. TN twice and KY, MU, FL just once. Home and away are with TN, Aub, MSST, LSU, GA. I count 13 easy SEC wins on their schedule. Only 5 tough games with 3 of them at home.

They played a better UK team twice last year, played TN twice, played bama away I believe and played a Vandy team twice that was as good if not better than this years Mizzou team. They played @OSU and @Syracuse

if we get nickols i think this will our best class ever.......just my opinion.
reason i think its better is because of the risk pearl took with ramar.

BTO brings it on the regular - props

I'm excited about this year's UK team. 2012 was walking on eggshells all year, I honestly didn't even enjoy the NCAA final - more relief than joy. The expectations will be lower this year so easier to watch (for me) but 2013 is showing up to me a monster...

Ryan Harrow will be feeling the pressure this year since this will be his last year at Kentucky. Andrew Harrison will be expected to take over the reigns next year per his recruitment.

Harrow is projected late 1st round but could slide to mid 2nd. He is the quintessential case similar to Quincy Miller where another year (Jr.) would be the lower risk financial move by enhancing his draft stock. He has burned a transfer and presently enters the season on a very slippery slope having been recruited over.

In theory Kentucky can roll with Ryan and Andrew but the Kentucky sales pitch has to be we are the 1 and done factory per se.

Kentucky certainly did what they had to do and should have done by recruiting these twins hard. Harrow wanted Kentucky and now he needs to play the cards that have been dealt. He may live to regret his Kentucky decision depending on how it all plays out.

Also you are undervaluing Missouri this year in my opinion. Their transfers are proven commodities (Bell, Ross and AO in particular). Is there a better 2 guard tandem in the country this year as a starting back court then "Flip" Pressey and Michael Dixon?

I am very interested to see what Alex Poythress brings to the table. To me he is an X factor. The rap is he doesn't have the strong mental game that Gilchrist had. In other words he doesn't bring it consistently. He will have to be a 1st team All-SEC caliber player in my opinion for Kentucky to contend for the SEC title.

As you guys have mentioned the loss of the Miller dynamic is going to have some ramifications. After winning a title the thrill and challenge of repeating quickly can turn into target practice for opposing teams. I think Kentucky will enter the NCAA Tournament as a lower seed than people expect. The national polls could have them anywhere between #12 and #16 at seasons end. That will make Kentucky depending on how they are peaking one of the more dangerous #3 or # 4 seeds in the NCAA Tournament.

I think Missouri, Florida and Tennessee finish ahead of Kentucky. Ironically it may not matter if the Kentucky Freshman are taking their game to the next level in March. Kentucky can repeat and may relish a lower seed.

The season should be a blast and GOOD LUCK!

All JMHO of course...

i agree having miller and patterson helped the cats alot last year.and i do not see any upper classmen that can contribute or help the freshmen grow.but i would never underestimate the wildcats because of coach cal and because of history .

I feel kinda bad for Harrow. Sure he'll be welcome to stay next year but will no doubt play behind the Harrison twins. His best bet is to have a stand out season and go into the draft projected to be a first rounder. That's gonna take a lot of work and being 170lbs doesn't help.

We do have upperclassmen however. I dunno if you count Julius Mays seeing is how this is his first year at UK. This will be Harrows 3rd in a college atmosphere and Wiltjer returns. Not the experience we had last year but will no doubt help. Hopefully Jon Hood shows up this year
