1. Many songs are amenable to operatic interpretation. The National Anthem is not one of them.
2. Tennessee's first half defense was disgraceful. They made a bad offensive team look like the 1986 Boston Celtics.
3. Trevor Releford annihilated UT's point guards. Melvin Goins and Trae Golden need to do some soul searching.
4. Tony Mitchell was the best player on the floor today by a wide margin. Alabama almost lost the game by not getting him the ball in the last two minutes of regulation.
5. There's no excuse for losing a game where you outrebound the other guys by 20. Awful ballhandling and shot selection negated the dominance on the glass.
6. Kids riding unicycles in circles for 10 minutes is entertainment gold. That should be the permanent halftime show.
7. Tobias Harris was assertive. That said, it's becoming readily apparent that athletic opponents are a problem for him.
8. Skylar McBee and Steve Pearl both play sound basketball. I do wish McBee would have stepped up and taken the last shot instead of passing to Goins.
9. Cameron Tatum attacked the basket more tonight than at any time this season. That's a positive sign.
10. This team's toughness will now be tested in a major way. Heading to Lexington and Gainesville off this loss is no easy assignment.

This sucks. Capitalize on one more opportunity, ANY opportunity, and we win this game in regulation.

This was a big swing game. We needed this one bad. I don't like the way things look from here unfortunately.

Point guard play was so bad I was laughing at times in the stands.

We need Kentucky to win at Florida tonite and then we have to win at Gainesville. I hope Scotty is ready for Kentucky. Everytime I think the season is over, somehow the Vols seem to get back in the race, so I'm not counting them out.

Anybody think we can rebound from this and knock off Kentucky, with bruce back on the sidelines?

we need to learn the art of a jumpshot we always shoot a terrible 360 layup

I have to guess because of Fox Sports, but the first half D seemed to be heavily tied to the first half turnovers. When Bama was forced to play halfcourt offense (at least in the second half), they had even less ideas than we did.

After that first half, you kind of just have to move on, because we dug a big enough hole that there shouldn't have been any expectations after that. It sucks to lose after fighting back and having a shot to win, but we were fortunate to even be in the thing with the way we played.

Tons of plays you can point to, but the one that stuck out in particular was in the second half when Cam gambled in the backcourt on a ballhandler-type, didn't slow him down at all, and effectively gave him a transition layup at the other end. If he just drops back, they've been stone cold all half, but after the layup, they hit a couple other shots and got the lead back to 6 or 8.

Edit to add that the effort in the second half by pretty much everyone was great after how they'd played in the first. Not sure if any actual adjustments were made to cut down on transition opportunities other than to stop handling the ball like a collective idiot, but the result was different, as Alabama was forced to work for points. In a way, the easy baskets that Bama built their lead on seemed to stop them from ever getting into a halfcourt flow, helping us in the second half when we decided to show up.

Someone fill me on the National Anthem. Quite a few people have mentioned it was awful

Basically if we play the 1st half with the intensity and intelligence that we played the 2nd half, we win the game by 6-10 points. Simple as that. Same ole story.

i'll just say be very thankful you didn't have to listen to the Anthem. People were seriously starting to laugh at the guy trying to sing it by doing oprea. It was beyond horrible

We could have really used Scotty. If our point guards were awake for more than 5 minutes we would have won this game. Also, once again our shot selection at the end of games is incredibly bad. The one time I wish Skylar would have shot it he passed it up for a player 6 feet away from him.

When it's apparent we can't guard two of the other teams players we need to switch to zone. The only positive from this game is we no longer have to look at Tony Jones.
