You whine about the halftime show but I'll take that over Raleigh's baseball sales pitch. Saw the baseball players and just assumed we'd be seeing it once again.

McBee looked like he could start as point on a NAIA school, and that is stretching it.
Scotty and Cam showed agression, which is nice.
Brian had another good game, but the SC defense was non-existent.
I dream about running a set play offense, and zones make me think about it more.

Agree 110% about Bone. Why he doesn't see more minutes, I don't understand. The guy is just steady and doesn't do anything to make you scratch your head, which is something to be said for this team.

Agreed.

Mascot Musical Chairs and cripple basketball are by far the best half time shows in basketball. No complaining from me on either.

Tatum coming out of his malaise???? 0 for was it 6 or 7 from the line.

I think he's still feeling the pressure from missing the front end of the one and one in the Florida game at the FT line. If he hasn't already, he needs to take free throws until he stops thinking about it (easy to say, I suppose). Even though he didn't produce at all from the line, I think it's a good sign that he's drawing some fouls and shooting decently from the field.

I agree with everything in the report, though I thought that Bone got about the right amount of minutes in this game. 22 minutes is pretty close to the amount he should play, even though I would like to see him essentially backing up the point. McBee can still run the offense while he's in the game (at least against weak opponents), but I would much rather see Bone dribble the ball up the court and guard the best guard of the opposing team. That's not meant to be a knock against McBee - dribbling under pressure just isn't one of his strengths.

I also wanted to mention that I agree with you about Harris being average lately. He would have been above average in this game if he hadn't thrown the ball away as much. There were at least a few passes that were much too high for Goins...I'm hoping he'll make more consistently good decisions against Georgia.

Were done, I've been hoping to see the team from early on that many across the country thought was a final four team. But just watching tonight, I've had a moment of peace! I'm not going to get mad, frustrated, and feel nervous during games anymore. This team doesn't have the heart or the chemistry anymore, we may sneak into the tourney. But these lazy, big egos will be gone in rd1, no more than rd2 and I'm done worrying about it, if they don't care, then I don't!

I don't know why they bother with halftime. I would rather just listen to the band play. I like the band.

1. That was the basketball equivalent of Ishtar. Nobody should ever watch that again.
2. Scotty Hopson's aggression was a welcome anomoly among the casual play around him. It had all the intensity of a YMCA game of HORSE.
3. Tennessee's balhandling was, as usual, abysmal. It's as if they have a quota of turnovers to meet.
4. I wonder if South Carolina fans realize yet they've been sold a bill of goods. Darrin Horn is the SEC East version of John Pelphrey.
5. If you're playing zone, the other team shouldn't be throwing 25 foot passes for layups. The Gamecocks are about as halfassed a defensive unit as you'll see.
6. Brian Williams had another solid game. He's too big for those guys to move.
7. Tobias Harris is pretty average right now. He's got to start attacking the rim hard instead of settling for that one handed floater.
8. Bruce Ellington is a talented player. Too bad his coach makes no attempt to harness those skills.
9. Nothing says big time entertainment like Mascot Musical Chairs. Armadillos, Moose, and assorted other animals dancing around is simlpy inspiring.
10. Cameron Tatum showed signs of snapping out of his malaise. That said, Josh Bone should be playing more minutes.

Are you kidding? Junior Smokey probably just padded his resume up for whenever the real Smokey hangs up his mascot career.

I'll take an anomoly over an anomaly in Scotty's case. Consistency would be more welcome, though.

I don't get why we don't see Tobias posted up more often. Tossing it around the perimeter for 20 seconds with one guarded man down low makes no sense to me. You can still toss the ball around the perimeter til ur in position to get it to the post up and then have deep man/slashers roll with it. The offense is closed for business, barring a good drive, deep ball otherwise.

Good write up hat. Scotty was very, very solid and Melvin improved.

Random question: You get my question about fantasy baseball?
Don't believe we saw that type of performance from Scotty at Kentucky. He can dominate when the competition is less that stellar!

I suppose your dad being verbally abused by people everyday and many of your teams supporters hate that you play would make you pretty peachy on the floor as you try to prove you belong.

That's a biiiiiiiiiiit of a stretch.
