1. Jodie Meeks would like to thank the various matadors who took turns guarding him for allowing him, for one night, to know how it feels to be Kobe Bryant.
2. Bobby Maze was played to a draw by Michael Porter. Michael F'N Porter. Devan Downey is so excited he'll probably run all the way to Knoxville.
3. Another good effort by Wayne Chism. Playing like that against the Patrick Pattersons of the world will pad your bank account.
4. Good to see Brian Williams show some signs of life. That was the best he's looked in some time.
5. Round 1 to Darius Miller. Hell, he even outscored Hopson. The fact Hopson was a McDonald's All American shows how utterly awful this crop of freshmen are in comparison to recent classes.
6. To all the UT fans who went scurrying to the exists at the 7:40 timeout down 11, a simple question: Why did you bother to show up in the first place? Next time, just do what all of you did before you jumped on the Bruce Pearl Bandwagon. Sell your tickets to Kentucky fans. That way, you won't be in danger of missing the Murder She Wrote/Matlock/Father Dowling Mysteries trifecta you love so much.
7. Great job by the students of not filling all of their allotted seats. Hopefully, Mike Hamilton will use that as the impetus to take away the side court section they have.
8. Having a wing player that the opposition doesn't have to guard outside 4 feet doesn't much help an offense. Prince at the 3=UT playing 4 on 5 offensively.
9. Saturday now becomes a tipping point game. Lose that one and this season goes into a death spiral immediately, circa the 2000-01 collapse.
10. As amazing as it is, the halfcourt offense is every bit as awful as the defense. Someone might want to let Bruce know he is allowed to run something other than that droning flex he loves so much. There's a reason Tom Davis never won anything of value in all his years as a head coach.

Nice analysis. Not that great, but not the doom and gloom your minions were waiting for.

Wow...surprisingly, not near as harsh as I expected Hat.
I don't yell at the guy working the grill at Krystal for not providing me with a five star meal. This team just isn't very good. I've come to grips with that. The faster people realize that fact, the happier they will be.

That's because he's already stated this team is what it is and isn't going to really get much better like most seem to think just because they're "young".

This was the 2nd most shocking thing to me tonight. How they can not show up for Kentucky at 9pm, is simply unbelievable to me.

Our lack of adjustments, was pretty appalling too.

Going into this season, I was looking forward to a taller, supposedly more athletic team playing some great defense, and boy was I wrong. If you aren't ging to gaurd him, atleast hammer him and make him earn it at the line. Seems as though this team has no desire, and I know they don't have any type of mean streak about them.

Its more of an effort thing for me. We never play defense after a miss. Never. I was very disappointed to see Tyler just stand there, after he thought he was fouled, as UK ran down court.

While I agree this team isn't going to get much better this year, do you not think that our youth is one of the main reasons? Otherwise, do you see it as a deficiency in talent or coaching?

In a game that lacked very few positives, Chism was one of them. I dare say he's finally beginning to put out good games on a more consistent basis.

Both, lazy, soft, street ballers for talent. No adjustments on offense or defense, just run the same old, same old for coaching.

Its several things obviously. I think its mostly coaching on the offensive end... because we sit there and settle for threes... he has never run a good half court offense - the past few years it just looked good because we had Lofton or Jajuan to nail a three at the end of the shot clock.

With the defense its a combination coaching, stupidity, and youth imo. I wouldn't consider talent a major problem in any area.

Hat, if there's one player - just one - who you could single out for being responsible for guys like Meeks and Christmas lighting us up, who would you pick? My vote would be Hopson. He's not exactly the "If he's chewing gum, I want to know what flavor it is" defender. My guess is that your pick would be Maze. Am I wrong?

I think Pearl recruited these guys to fit his offense and they just aren't hitting the shots. Pearl obviously loves the 3 and transition offense. I believe the players we have just are not use to our style yet and don't have the natural shooting ability like Lofton to overcome it. Both player and coach are going to have to adapt and learn each other before we improve.

On defense I think Pearl needs to make players more accountable but it is hard because Maze is the main culprit and we have no where else to turn.

Good point about Bdub. He also looked a little lost at times (as usual). That 3 he hit provided a boost in the 2nd half and they cut the UK lead to single digits........ only to have Meeks finish what he started. Where was Negedu? I thought he was supposed to be getting B Will's minutes??

Cam Tatum does a pretty good job of getting himself torched.

After watching last night I noticed something else this team is void of.....pride!
and has Tyler showed up in the first half lately?

Meeks was quoted as saying that UT was still talking smack with a couple of minutes to go........

Hats right, this team just isn't very good. We could see more effort from them on the defensive side of the ball. Where is their pride?
