1. Great crowd. Great Atmosphere. Lousy result. The home floor magic has officially run out.
2. I am thoroughly stunned that Pearl didn't extend the floor defensively and force the pace when Evans went out of the game with his second foul. Failing to do that allowed Memphis to grind the clock and get to halftime essentially even without much production from their best player.
3. The regression of Bobby Maze continues. The idea that Tennessee's point guard play is any better this year than last is rapidly being exposed as a fallacy.
4. Antonio Anderson is not a great player. He'll be lucky to get a spot on the end of an NBA team's bench. That said, I'll take him on my team every day. The guy is pure and simple a winner.
5. I'm amazed that a guy whose father was a pretty good basketball coach has so little feel for the game. JP Prince makes at least two plays a game comparable to those someone who has never played the game before would make.
6. Kentucky is methodically moving toward the SEC title. Workmanlike road wins put hardware in the trophycase.
7. UCLA's youth is showing. Ben Howland has no shot at a fourth straight Final Four.
8. It is imperative that Tennessee sweep the home games next week. Lose one or both of those and a full scale malaise will set in for the team and fan base.
9. The SEC desperately needs LSU to defend their homecourt against Xavier tonight. The league is desperate for a good win and this is pretty much the last shot.
10. Wayne Chism continues to confuse. He wears Memphis out inside, then wanders the perimeter on the biggest possessions of the game.

That contested mid ranged jumper was so confusing. We had three possessions inside 2 minutes with a chance to take the lead... we had bad looks on all of them... Tyler forced a bad shot twice and then the Chism shot.

Thanks, hat. The halfcourt defense is improving--I actually saw Chism and Prince do a textbook job of defending an on-ball screen on consecutive posessions--but the half-court offense still stinks, and play at the point has a lot to do with that.

The possession before that was just as bad. That was when Maze came down & jacked up a 3! The score was 51-50 Memphis.

No. 4 sound a lot like Dane Bradshaw.

Bobby Maze has regressed to a level that is embarrassing. He does not see the floor well, and is a liability on defense.

Man I hope West can at least get clearance next year...

Hat, any more news on whether he will be eligible? I know last I heard it wasn't looking good...

Yea this kid is a piece of work. Fouling Evans on the 3 point shot was just stupid. Also, after making a great defensive play and getting the ball back into UT's hands he proceeds to give it right back on the offensive end.

I haven't heard anything lately. In that situation, I consider no news to be good news.

Agreed.

He may not be the answer we're needing...but I can't imagine him being anymore of a liability on defense than Maze is.

Hat, did the fans doing anything for the recurits or anything? They showed on t.v. the coaches being introduced for just a second. I am sure they good a standing O.

It appeared the fans surrounding the section where the recruits were seated stood and cheered when they came to their seats.

One of the main problems today was Tennessee spending the first 20 seconds of almost every possession doing nothing. You can't expect to do much against a quality defense playing with a 15 second shot clock.

And that comes back to two things to me...coaching and point guard play.

Call me old school but all I want from a point guard is court vision and awareness.

Bobby Maze has neither. He looks lost on both ends of the floor.
