The Stoops Family

Mark Stoops is a very good coach. I hate to admit it but he’s done a nice job.

For Kentucky, he's done a great job recruiting and developing players.

His weakness is he is a crappy game day coach. He gets schooled all the time, except by Florida. Pruitt even schooled him when we were like 14-point underdogs!

Huepel will run this score up and embarrass Stoops if he can. People like CJH who are A type personalities like to remind previous people who doubted them if how wrong they were.

This will be a statement game if possible. No matter the score, the starters will be staying in.

He will run up the score if he can because getting big point advantages is the best thing to do when you have an elite offense, but also a defense that is good most of the time, but has minimal depth and has issues that can allow teams with good quarterbacks to make up big deficits. We have put up big leads on several teams for them to get back in to the game.

I don’t know Heupel’s relationships with the Stoops, except the things people say about him about Bob. We do know they didn’t part on good terms. How that extends to the other Stoops is anyone’s guess.

Of the three though, it seems to me that Mark Stoops is the one Heupel is least likely to have a beef with. Bob, sure, and Mike probably also because he was also involved in that situation, but how he feels about Mark Stoops could be the same or completely different.

Regardless of how he feels though, if we are scoring bigly that’s because it’s the plan to make sure we have the best chance to win the game. If he takes some extra satisfaction in it when we win that’s his business, but not the reason I’d expect him to do it.

You don't think Mark has talked to Bob the last two weeks on how to stop Heupels offense??

Puhhhleaseee. 😂

Blue font?

You don’t think Mark talked to Bob last year on how to stop Huepel’s offense? Maybe he should be talking to Pat, that guy is the only one to slow it down this year…

Yeah, I am not talking about certain places in Appalachia or the Mississippi delta. But being a big fish in a small pond actually makes people happy and builds confidence if/when they leave.

I'm sure there is merit in your claim. Even if it is at odds with too many big fish from small ponds I've encountered who were egoistical a-holes, suffered from spoiled bratism, bigoted, judmental, and some were just poutish and whiny. In fairness, though, exceptions I did meet were empathetic, kindly folks, funny, and made some of the best friends I ever had, even to this day. So I still say, it all depends on which small place. I've had the privilege of traveling, and living in places in the South, Southwest, West, Northwest, and central western states. Only places i haven't put in serious time is the Northeast. Not too big a deal for people, as they all taught me that it's just people being people. And even attheir worse, they can still be hilarious. Makes me sort of glad that one size doesn't fit all. Which was why I enjoyed reading the book written by Christopher Anvil (edited by Eric Flint).

Mike is the one who Bob was protecting. His OU defense sucked. Heupel was the sacrificial lamb.

I have contended since he retired that Bob did so because he didn't want to have to fire Mike. Mike's defenses were terrible after he returned to OU from Arizona. Everyone, including Bob, saw it and wanted Mike gone. Bob left it to Riley to do it. That's the risk of hiring family. Iowa is going through it right now with Brian Ferentz.
