The Story of Your Name

As far as my real name, I’m a III. Even though Sr. (RIP) and Jr. spell their first name differently (apparently the hospital made a mistake on my birth certificate). I actually prefer the way it ended up being spelled. 😂

I almost used my nickname (pucko) that I have been called since jr high school days. What is interesting is when I would move even as an adult it would somehow be picked up.
Bet you can’t guess my real name that caused the pucko nickname.

IRL my first and middle names afd after my parents two favorite authors. Not the biggest fans of their stuff but it's not bad, so I dont mind.

My volnation tag came from playing Bama in Neyland under Dooley. I was front row with espn. At half time they had to come move the crowd mike because there was one "louder Vol" that was getting picked up too much. It was me.

Most people dont realize how loud I can be irl.

Mad you sure do have a great imagination.
But if it was Charles wouldn’t it most likely be chucko?
One more guess. Your first job was as a carpenter, you made your boss super nervous, and under his breath he was saying F*** F*** F***, every time you were doing a job. From that your nickname eventually became pucko.

My first name is Karin. I dislike the name Karen, but since my parents spelled it with an i, I allow it. My middle name is after a good family friend. My step mother claims my father was having an affair with her, but who really knows?
Special K is because my name starts with a K and I’m special. 🙃. The 20 is for Matt Kenseth who drove the 20 at the end of his career.
He goes into the Na$car HOF at the end of the year and I will probably change my username then.

My oldest dogs name. When he was a puppy my family saw Johnny at the stadium and I told him about the addition to the family. In his raspy Johnny Majors voice said "oh, thall be a good hunting dog"

Didn't have the heart to tell him I don't hunt or own a gun. But good memorable moment.

Do you pronounce it the same way as Karen?
And on that middle name…..

My sister was supposed to be named Kathy, that’s what my parents agreed on. Anyways at the hospital, the person comes in and asks my mom, what name did you choose? My mom said Susan.

Ooops 😬

So what had happened, my dad wasn’t in the room at the time. My mom and dad had some friends that had two daughters, Kathy and Susan. She claims she got the names confused in her mind and gave the wrong name because of the sisters. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Share as much or little as you are comfortable.

How was your name chosen?
Were you named after someone?
Does it have any cultural or historical meaning?
Is there a story or experience related to your name you would like to share?

It can be first, middle and/or last name.
Can be a nickname or even you Volnation screen name.

It can be a story behind a nickname you gave your significant other, your kids, friends or even your four legged pets.

The tale of Pepperjax is more than just a mere name.

My middle name is Fitzgerald. I was born in December 1960 and our family was Catholic. My mother swore for years I was named after a nun who attended our church, but I always figured I was named after the newly elected president.

It actually was supposed to be pronounced CAR-in but that just never happened.
Everyone calls you, Sabu. When you parted from a close companion for the last time, you urged him to call you by your name. He smiled and said, I know you, Sabu. Your name is KAR-in.

Named after King David. I got the superdave moniker from old friends because of being a single dad of 3 kids (mom had little involvement at all) and working ny tail off full time and getting ny degree at night.
Dave Osborne is pretty funny too, but had nothing to do with it.

Not really. I just have a voice that carries and I can hit, and maintain a pretty good volume.
Are you ever going to admit it’s really about your “wardrobe” and tell the pants or jacket stories?

Mine is a tribute to some of my earliest memories of the Vols. I grew up playing football in the backyard with neighbor kids on Saturdays while listening to Vols games on the radio called by John Ward. I can still smell that fall air. Great memories.

I designed my logo myself. I live in Kansas City now and pull for the Royals and Chiefs, but the Vols are my first love.

Between this thread and the alma mater thread, some possibilities for scamming and such exist. Too many details given out. And I am guilty too.
