The Supreme Court of the United States Thread

The fringe absolutely makes the laws. That is why a random ass woman that despises gay folks so much she took it to the Supreme Court to be sure she could still treat them as less than before she even provided the service. I don't think I'm being dramatic at all. When SCOTUS rules in favor of this, it will absolutely open up all sorts of discrimination against LGBTQ+ folks, and every other minority in the US.
I'm sticking with the facts of the case as presented. You are adding generalizations and hyperbole, much more in line with fringe behavior.

I will not venture whether she is a bigot or not, I do not know her. What she is asking the court to consider is not what you are framing it as.

I think what people are afraid of is if they take a stand on their religious beliefs their lives can be turned upside down and they could lose everything. That doesn't sound like the country I would want to live in.

Is anyone following the Barry Jones case from Arizona? I saw a blurb saying the SC agreed with the Arizona AG that he did not have the right to introduce exculpatory evidence after his conviction, so he remains on death row although the preponderance of evidence says he's innocent. If that's true there's a bug in the system that needs fixing.

I haven’t but just read a couple articles about his case. Terrible. To me it’s the system protecting itself, to say the “rules” prevent new evidence from coming in when a mans life is on the line is complete horse chit!

Y'all don't get to have your cake and eat it too. Either discrimination in a private business is okay, or it isn't. You don't get to be outraged because a restaurant told a group of Christians to kick rocks when you were just saying a day before that it was okay for a Christian to tell a gay couple to kick rocks and find another website designer. Being fine with a private business refusing to serve gay folks while being pissed a private business refused to serve Christians makes you a hypocrite, plain and simple.
The flip side applies to the left. "Yall" werent fine with businesses refusing service to gays, but are fine when its denied to Christian's.

Calling out other's hypocrisy often highlights your own.

Supreme Court Rejects New York gun retailers' bid to block new concealed carry laws

New York implemented the Concealed Carry Improvement Act last year after the Supreme Court struck down the state's previous law

The Supreme Court rejected a bid by New York gun retailers on Wednesday to block a slew of new gun control laws in the state, which they argued violate their Second Amendment rights and hurt their businesses.

There were no noted dissents in the order or explanations from the justices for their decision.

Where are you getting that? This is what the article said:
The article states the Justices were the only people not required to give a sworn statement. Every single person that works for the USSC was required to give sworn statements except for them.

I like this insightful comment from Jazzy Minx. Are the bureaucrats that run these federal agencies elected?

Some members of the public, specifically on social media, who are critical of the overturn of Chevron said that if overruled, government would cease to exist.
1) Damn, liberals are stupid.
2) We couldn't be so lucky.
