I swear I'm not trolling with this question. Never done any competitive swimming but can swim like a dolphin. What's the trick or secret to doing that flip near the wall to get headed the other direction. Never could get that down without nearly drowning myself.

Can you tuck and roll like in a football drill?
Same motion.


And it's called a flip turn.

Flip directly forward.

feet on wall.

push off with your back facing the bottom of the pool.

twist body around to face correct way.

profit.

I started swimming at the gym, due to tennis elbow and shin splints. been swimming maybe 1 or 2 months, accumulative. Im just now getting to the point where Im not fighting myself with horrible form. Its way fun, and probably the future of my fitness activity. wish technology would render a way to listen to music while swimming.

Swam my first freestyle mile last night. Pretty proud of myself considering I could do 2 laps about 5 months ago. I started back hill climbing on my bicycle to add some strength to my anchors. My swimming technique is beyond atrocious.

If you want a better work out start doing sets for time. For example 5x100 freestyle on 1:30.

Good one for me yesterday. Pretty much same as my last swim.

2 x 500 warm up
5 x 200 IM (drill swim fly & back)
4 x 250 Free (30-40 sec rest)
100 cool down

3100 yards.

Starting to wish I had my splits for each set just for fun. Dont want to mess with a watch though.
