The Texas Rangers Thread

I don't think it's a big deal. He told the team, and is always the first to realize his mistake. I think there's a lot of pressure weighing on him right now, and I'm not sure he's fully recovered emotionally from the death of that fan. It was good to see that Ian Kinsler went to the bar and convinced Hamilton to go home.

I am just glad it got handled and figure out before it got far worse

Perhaps. But in the past when he has fallen off the wagon he has ended up in trailers w/strangers taking hits off the crack pipe.

Anybody know if the Rangers have made special arrangements to keep alcohol out of their clubhouse on game days?

I know most if not all MLB clubs have alcohol in their clubhouses.

That was a long time ago.

I'm not sure. I know they celebrate with ginger ale instead of champagne.

If that's the case I bet they don't have any alcohol in the clubhouse or on their planes ever. I wish all of MLB would get rid of it in the clubhouses at least.

For some reason I think the Rangers were on a list of teams that allowed alcohol in the clubhouse. It was in an article after the Red Sox fiasco this year. I can't remember for sure though.

Perhaps you are not aware, but once an addict always an addict especially when it comes to heroin/crack and alcohol. If he's not supervised he will, again, end up seeking out an element to satisfy whatever craving he may be supplementing.

I am aware, but thanks for the condescension. He's slipped up twice since 2005 and only with alcohol. Sounds like he's figured out a pretty effective way to control his demons.

I was under the impression that most of the clubs allowed alcohol in the clubhouses. Is that accurate?

I would like to see a list of the ones that don't.

MLB to consider alcohol ban in clubhouses after Red Sox revelations - MLB - Sporting News

"Fewer than half allow alcohol in the clubhouse."

It's 12 teams, but I can't find a list. That's just during games; most still allow alcohol after the game is over.

If I understand what your saying 12 teams allow alcohol to be consumed during games. I know that the Red Sox fiasco opened some eyes but there is no reason for any team to allow that. After games is debatable but I don't think the league should allow that either.

I'm surprised any teams allow it during a game. I heard it was an old baseball traditional that is slowly coming to an end.

Yu pitching today.
Sitting at about 93 mph... little bit up in the zone too often... but hey, it's one random inning first spring training start.
Slider-ish pitch is absolutely filth, at about 82 mph. Shew.

My 7 yr old son is getting more interested in baseball since he is playing coach pitch this year. I'm going to get him to a game this year.

I think I may be able to buy a game or two from my buddy with the kick ass seats posted earlier in this thread.

Yeah apparently Yu has looked pretty good. I haven't watched any preseason stuff because I'm still not over the world series. Those are great seats, there's nothing better than a ballgame.

Same, that and I havea tough time paying attention to ball until school gets out
