FV, you know I'm one of the more fair posters on this board. You can't say "Historically it is" because that's not able to be proven or disproven. It's on the cusp of the top 10 because of what it meant 3-4 decades ago. It's top 15 IMO.

Your really gonna make Rudy mad with talk like this. If the teams were more compatible over the last 20y I think it would stand out more.

ND's fall the last 10 years, and USC's the 10 before, definitely hurt the rivalry.

Plus, there just isn't the intensity you see with the best rivalries. It doesn't effect a conference race, hasn't effected a national title race in a long time, they aren't in close proximity, and it doesn't effect recruiting very much.

How about when Leinart got pushed into the endzone at the last second by Bush. That game had a rivalry flavor to it.

gameday on espn said Kansas vs Missouri was the 2nd oldest rivalry in college football. it doesnt make the top 10 of rivals.

it's hard to say those are top 10 rivalries when the majority of the opposing team's fans don't even consider you their greatest rival. for alabama most would say auburn. for florida some may mention us, but most would say fla st. or maybe georgia.

Unfourtunantly, the one thing we are missing as a great program is a great top ten caliber rival.
