I am shocked to see a list that doesn't have OSU-Michigan #1. According to Kirk Herbsteit(sp), it is the #1 rivalry in all of sports.

Plus, there just isn't the intensity you see with the best rivalries. It doesn't effect a conference race, hasn't effected a national title race in a long time, they aren't in close proximity, and it doesn't effect recruiting very much.

You can't ask for a better rival than Alabama. There's just a handful of programs that have a comparable history.

michigan is the winningest program in college football history. ohio state is no slouch either. as much as I hate the big-10 i don't know how you could argue auburn alabama is the better rivalry. despite what the folks at auburn think, they aren't a power.

Army-Navy should be higher. That game transcends the rivalries of sports.

Even as a Cal fan, our rivalry with Stanford has only had one signature moment. When was the last time Cal and Stanford battled for something meaningful at the same time?

How does BYU-Utah make the list? They are mid-majors. Is there history there I don't know about?

Of course, if that makes the list, KU-Mizzou should DEFINITELY be on this list. Cal-Stanford is a silly pick too. I think UT-'bama is in the top 10.

The # 1 biggest rivalry in all of college football is...Army Vs. Navy the # 2 biggest rivalry in all of CF is NOTRE DAME VS. USC. weather you like them of not a fact is a fact. Also, the 2005 season ND Vs. USC did determine a spot in the National Championship, Thanks! It was also said that that was the BEST game in college football History!

Thing about that list is that its not static. Some years -- even some decades, a rivalry just isn't as electric as it used to be. To really keep it going, both teams either need to be really competitive with each other or at least one has to nationally competitive and the other a thorn in its side. Look at FSU-Miami. Just ten years ago that game was everything. Now its crap.

Notre Dame vs USC. Who said it was the best game in history? Notre Dame couldn't stop what everyone saw coming. Just because Jabba the Weis thought the game is over when the ball is out of bounds, doesn't make it so. Anyways, Vince Young played in 2 better games that year.

I wouldn't call it determining a national championship if USC beats a team it beats every year now. It is a current power vs a has been. Michigan Notre Dame is probably bigger than USC Notre Dame.
