It's called the "QWERTY" phenomenon

Back when typewriters were first invented, people could type faster than typewriters could function. Typewrite manufactucturers, therefore, scrambled the letters for financial reasons- it was easier to scramble the letters than train people to type faster.

Weird, but true.
