How many National Championships have they won since '83? I believe the correct answer is "more than everyone else."(therealUT @ Jul 5 said:With all the talent that Miami brings in and then sends to the pros every year, the lack of championships is astonishing, and proof that there is absolutely no magic in that program.

Along with the cupcake schedule that Miami played until they joined the new ACC.
Ah, time to educate. Ann Arbor? The Canes have gone there and won. Knoxville? Check. State College? That's an affirmative. Tallahassee? Many times. Gainesville? When the Gators aren't to scared to play them. Norman? There too. The myth that Miami has played easy schedules, especially prior to their joining the Big East, simply isn't borne out by the numbers. They play anybody, anywhere, anytime.(therealUT @ Jul 5 said:I could care less if it is more than everyone else. It should be, they have more talent than every other team. It's interesting, a huge protion of the teams you ridicule Miami for playing are teams UT has played since TCHFCAUTK took over. I also didn't realize Arkansas and Mississippi State were so terrible. I believe UT played them in '98 as well. Didn't realize scheduling a game at Penn State was looking for a breather. Didn't realize West Virginia was considered a walkover.(therealUT @ Jul 5 said:4 out of 13 is a lot less than 6 or 7 out of 12 Hat.

Post the entire schedules and see how they look. If you just look at the bottom teams, UT's schedule is terrible every year due to the presence of Vandy, Kentucky, and at least one nonconference lightweight.(therealUT @ Jul 5 said:Teams on Miami's Schedule during National Championship Years:

Houston (4-7)
Purdue (3-7-1)
Duke (3-8)
Louisville (3-8)
Miss. St. (3-8)
Cincinatti (4-6-1)
Six teams with losing records. Lost 5 out of 6 against teams with winning records.
1987: (12-0)
Maryland (4-7)
Cincinatti (4-7)
East Carolina (5-6)
Miami (OH) (5-6)
Va. Tech (2-9)
Toledo (3-7)
Again, six teams with losing records.
1989: (11-1)
Wisconsin (2-9)
Cal (4-7)
Missouri (2-9)
Cincinatti (1-9) <--a Miami favorite
San Jose St. (6-5)
East Carolina (5-5)
San Diego St. (6-5-1)
Only four teams with losing records, and then 3 bottom conference barely .500 teams. So, Miami won 4 out of 5 against good teams.
1991: (12-0)
Arkansas (6-6)
Houston (4-7)
Oklahoma St. (0-10)
Cal St.-Longbeach
Arizona (4-7)
W. Virginia (6-5)
200112-0)
Penn St. (5-6)
Rutgers (2-9)
W. Virginia (3-8)
Temple (4-7)
