The Ultimate Cord Cutting Guide (merged)

I've had sling for almost 3 years now. No issues at all. You can cancel and turn back on at any time without penalties/fees. I use a HD antenna for locals. Best deal imo.
That's what I'm doing. Works well for us. Hulu TV and YTTV were both missing channels that were deal breakers.

Frdly. I think that is how it's spelled has it as an addon I believe. Or you can download the app and pay 5.00 a month for streaming.

That is something I'm thinking about as well getting Youtube TV and then getting FrndlyTV as it has all 3 Hallmark channels as well as the Weather Channel. Another option is Hallmark Movies Now but I'm not sure if that includes "Live TV" of their channels.

Can't stand the Hulu guide so far... I do like all the on demand content though. Setting up the DVR function was fairly easy.

YTTV doesn't have HBO add on, correct?

YTTV does not have HBO. Are you an Amazon Prime member? If so, you get get it there.

I am a Prime member, but I like HBO being integrated into the streaming service. I sometimes like to just coming across a random movie playing and watching it for no reason while I'm cooking or doing something else around the house.

Anyone having issues with a stuck black screen after commercials on Youtube TV? I think I saw someone mention it earlier and it happened to me twice tonight. Quite aggravating.

If it is happening to you, let me know what device you're using. I'm curious if that matters.

Not seeing it on firestick.

Thanks. I googled it and all the people who've experienced the issue seem to have a roku. Guess I'll be rotating to another one of my streaming devices for the game.

I was on a Roku last night watching live TV for a few hours. Never had any issues with blackscreens. I'm guessing it might be recorded or on-demand commericals causing the problem?

No issues on my 2 Firesticks this week that I'm aware of.

It sucks having to log into a TV provider to access some part of a network's programming. I can't watch anything on the Fox, ESPN, or NBC apps (on my Xbox One) because I don't have a provider and I don't want to pay to subscribe.

I got an email from AT&T Now, or whatever they want to be called this week, and they are going up again. You know the best way to stop hemorrhaging customers, by raising your prices.
They have been effectively trying to kill it since they bought DirectTV

Why would you have access to something you dont subscribe to?

That's a fair point. I guess my main gripe is that content that is free with an antenna (except for ESPN) sits behind a paywall if you want to view it via internet streaming.

Its natural that it sits behind a paywall from streaming content, I mean there are costs associated to stream that to you no?
