The Unofficial 2014 SEC Tournament Thread

Ok, that makes sense. Plus new major-city market hosting a major conference event.

Don't know what the case is there. When would the votes on the two TBD sites come? (Or would there be resistance because of the state's "newer" status in the footprint? It's like what one of the 2nd or 3rd biggest populated markets in the footprint now, right?)

Not sure about any of your questions, but again, I remember the idea behind it being that we can sell a lot more tickets at the Edward jones dome than the Georgia dome because it's more convenient for the fans in the league who care about basketball most.

Doesn't matter to me. I think it should be rotated personnally, but ticket sales are a problem in some locations.....which is why they may never come back to florida

Beating South Carolina won't help UTs NCAAT chances much at all.

Beating Arkansas would have.

We aren't in a position where we need to climb over other teams to get in. We just need Ws. A loss to possibly the #1 overall seed won't hurt us enough to keep us out of the tourney

A lot of NHL venues host conference and NCAA tournament games...

I'm sure few would want to come to Memphis for a basketball tourney, but I can tell you from dozens and dozens of times watching games at the Fedex Forum, it is an awesome venue for hoops.

I personally like it being in Atlanta because

1) I'm from Atlanta so I'm biased.

2) It's not TOO far from centrality. The addition of T&M and Mizzou hurt that but I don't think it's that big of an issue.

3) Reason being Atlanta has a lot of SEC fans (outside of UGA) and is by far the most diverse major city in the south in terms of College Football Fanhood. I have seen more Bama, Auburn, Florida tags and caps around the city than Georgia Tech so it's convenient for a lot of people like myself.

4) And considering Atlanta has a metropolitan population more than every individual state representing an SEC school except Texas and Florida clearly and Missouri and Tennessee barely, it accounts for a huge percentage of the population that would not have to travel far lengths.

5) Only problem is the venue and we know the Falcons are constructing a new stadium that should be built by 2017 that is supposedly designed to be very basketball compatible.

So what happens if we beat SC, lose to FL Sat. And someone like LSU or Ole Miss wins the tourney? Would the Vols still get an NCAA bid?

My friend travels with the team and said from the moment he got there he's seen nothing but big blue fans. Said it looked like walking out of Rupp earlier this season. Gotta give it to the Cat faithful...they love them some basketball

That's the way it is every SECT. A lot of Kentucky fans, and this isn't a lie, this is their "yearly vacation". I lived in Kentucky for close to 2 years unfortunately, I was amazed at the amount of people who waited all year for their family vacation to the SECT.

Its fascinating. You got to respect the passion and love they have for their team.

Here's to hoping all 15,000 leave tomorrow in tears :)
