The value of continuity

I assume you opposed the firing of Dooley then? Continuity and all.

Nope. Dooley had almost no credentials besides his name, his hair, and orange pants.

We should've kept Kippy Brown for a year if Dooley was the best we could do.

I put more stock in a coach who can get his players to buy into what he is selling. He has obviously sold the program. Now lets see if he can sell the rest. Regardless of the record next season. I think we should see some signs of that. One way or another.

You better quit being realistic and using common sense! Some posters on here may go into gloom and doom brain overload after reading your posts! On the other hand, I wonder if some of these people are really trolls or just having brain farts!

Bro haters will always find some way to hate.....damn the logic and facts

Seriously, think about what you just posted! A coach should not come in and implement his system but use the system that got the previous coach fired? Then on top of that call a coach who comes in and implements a system that has a history of wining "dumb." Sorry but this is one of the most ridiculous posts I have ever read! The above post needs to be recorded in the history of Volnation as one of the stupidest posts ever. Not saying the author is stupid but you really had a serious meltdown on this one!

What's even more scary IT GOT SOME LIKES! We're doomed!

If u think its dumb look up rich rod at Mich. All coaches r hired to win n part of that is being adaptable.. If u think cbj has three yrs to have a winning season n make a bowl again look up rich rod.

This yr will haunt this staff because his system may produce less wins than the last system!!!!!! But wait its stupid to phase in ur system n utilize the talent left over n maybe make a bowl game.

Oh wait butch knows all n everyone else is stupid..

Continuity is certainly a positive, but it is WILDLY overrated. Good coaches show their form quickly. But if Missouri is the program you want to emulate (and I scoff at that mentality) ... then you still probably have the wrong staff for the job. Jones needs to revamp this staff. And quick.

I wonder if the quality of players have anything to do with good coaches showing form quickly?

You must have been one of the "likes." Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse ... That is really all I can say!

If Bray had been the only one to go pro and Rivera had had 1 more year of eligibility...CP and JH still here with Pig and North....and the way we ran the ball in this offense......Butch Jones would look like a Meyer/Saban hire year one. Just seems to amaze me how quickly people forget how much NFL level talent we lost from the offensive side of the ball...and no experienced WR/TE's to fill the cleats.

According to some on here all you got to do is coach all those guys up in a new system with a new QB. And if you struggle, It must be the coaching or play calling can't be the talent or the actual players themselves. Gotta be the coaching and they should be fired NOW!

The reason I like us signing 30+ this year so much is that we can redshirt some of them, which will help us redshirt more in the 2015 class, too. Teams that can redshirt players (especially on the OL & DL) are teams with quality depth and good special teams play. We'll get there in a couple of years...

Agreed. With the Jucos and potential Redshirts, we can avoid having to replace 30+ players in one class. Attrition, coaching changes, and 25 "limit". That's why we played with about 75 players in 2009 and 2010.

Never fotget that these coaches are the guys that got so many great commits for our incomimg class.

Many times if a coach leaves some of the commits will also leave and go to another program.

We have alot of smart kids coming in with this class and they seem to really like bUTch, his coaches and the style of football we're going to play.

Staff continuity has always been a good thing in most cases and running the same O and D systems to let the kids become experts in it will make them better and faster with their execution.

Most on here actually know nothing about college football and how things really work and it's no surprise that NOBODY here on VN gets paid to coach a college team.

bUTch will be on the Hill for 3 or 4 or more years so stop crying and get used to it and just be a fan and support our program.

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

If continuity is the end all be all they should have kept Dooley. Some of you guys are whistling past the graveyard. Hopefully the best staff in America will be able to recruit another top 5 class in 2015 without having to prove anything on the field and without a passel of legacies.

Dooley had no right to be hired in the first place, he had losing record at la tech, was hired based on his last name only and it was painfully obvious that he was not up to the task at UT. Butch has a winning record and has proven he can win at two different schools. He has been here less then a year and is going to sign a top 5 recruiting class when was the last time that happen at here?
