The very last clip on the end of the farewell CBS/SEC montage...

I'll miss having the focus on the 1 game. On CBS, we never had to worry about our game starting on an alternate channel or streaming only. Plus they had a post game show that allowed them to broadcast more of the atmosphere after the game, including the field rushing and goal posts after Bama. On ESPN, it will be coaches interview, then cut to commercial or next game already mid way through the first quarter.

CBS honestly did a great job I won’t really miss Gary but I will miss the intro music and their production. They showed alot of Tennessee in their montage video even if alot was from several years back and in our 90’s glory days but the last shot of the fireworks going off after we beat Bama was awesome.

Agree. I'll virtually guarantee that people will be pining away for CBS once ESPN gets their slimy paws on the SEC. We got a potential precursor last night with the execrable self-important blowhard Joe Tessatore doing the Florida State game.

The only thing I would never miss about CBS was the bloated self-promoter, Verne Lundquist.

I didn't see the original broadcast.
This was the only one i found on YouTube.
The shot referenced by OP is about 3 minutes in. Lots of Vol clips in the whole thing though.

The SEC on CBS was one of the best things the world had to offer. It is now dead like the BCS and the SEC before A&M and Missouri. Disappointed and saddened by these changes.

It's been consistent that "ESPN hates us" here for years, so I expect to see: "I wish we were back on CBS" "Jeez, CBS wasn't even this bad" within the first quarter of our first game.

Exactly: Now Vol fans can find a new TV analyst whom they'll claim hates UT and whine about him every week....

I’ll have to say, I’ve been fond of the CBS broadcasts since ‘96. Maybe it was just the music 🤷🏼‍♂️. Still nothing like Ron Franklin on ESPN, but I’ve enjoyed CBS.

Yeah, I don't understand all the CBS hate. What? Espn? ABC? I liked it better with Verne, and I agree that Ron Franklin was the best in the last 25 years. "Has 5, has 10, 15, and He Will Score!"

There was something special about that 3:30 time slot and music. The overall broadcasts between Vern and Gary during our down years was painful to sit through.

Every time I think of pilot sports, I think of UT slapping around vandy and uk. I miss pilot sport, it’s nostalgic lol
Don't forget the high-quality 8-bit graphics and the camera cuts that were not composed yet (swinging around like an amusement park ride). Aaaaaahhhh the glory days of low-def games.

I'd pay good money to see a montage of Gary slobbering all over how great Georgia and Alabama were during a TN game. If TN was ever in the lead it was never because they were doing something well, it was always because the other team was doing something wrong.

There are plenty of nostalgia things to miss about the 3:30 game but Gary Damnyouson is not one of them.

Bitching about game announcers is a favorite pastime of VN
