My initial thoughts:

Shocked to see USC get a first place vote.

Kinda surprised Florida only got two.

Georgia is STILL OVERRATED by us. Only dropping two spots after a home loss like that is not very real.

Cal moving up 5 seemed a bit much. Especially if you drop their opponent 8 spots. Just a group of people not used to Pac-10 Football I think.

Other than that, pretty good. Awesome participation. Everyone keep it up! We had 32 voters this week. Kept me busy all day, but it's still fun.

Why on earth did BC drop out? They didn't even play. They're 4-1 with a huge win over Clemson.

I was also surprised at usc getting #1 love. Why is fsu getting votes, it was the only game on thursday wasn't it?

Good job OrangeSquare, we appreciate your efforts. I'm sure that takes a bit of time to compile.

I was one that voted Florida #1 I just don't see why Ohio State has such a wrap on 1st. Who other than texas have they played? Worhty of a top 5 yes, a lock for 1 I don't think so. No matter what if Michigan and Ohio state are undefeated going into their end of season matchup (which should happen given their final schedule) Somehow the polls will have them 1 and 2 and ESPN will be calling it the Championship game before the BCS championship game. Also looking at the remaining undefeated I can see many undefeated teams come bowl time with the poor schedules of some of these teams.

Penn State
@ Iowa

Those games were big games, and they KILLED both of them.

Penn State lets see they have beat huh D1-AA Youngstown state, 2-4 Akron, 2-4 Minnesota, and 2-4 Northwestern.

Iowa, Ill give you this one. Ok so they have beaten Iowa and Texas. I didn't say Ohio State is not worthy of a 1 rating I just don't see why ESPN and many others have them as a lock for number 1. Why not Florida, Michigan, or USC. Heck USC has only lost what 2 games in like 4 years. I can't see Boise State, West Virginia, Rutgers, or Lousiville being fit for a number one ranking all though 2 of these teams will more than likely finish the regular season without a loss.

This is 2006, not 2004-2006, so you cannot look at anything but the games they have played this season, thus USC should not be considered for #1. Penn State is a good team which will end up with 8-9 wins, something Tennessee fans were predicting as a good season for our Vols.

Ohio State has NOT had a close game. NONE. They have OWNED Texas, OWNED Iowa, and OWNED Penn State.

Florida barely got by against a great Tennessee team, had troubles with S. Miss in the first half and Kentucky in the first half. I think Florida is actually 1b. and not 2. Florida's resume is just a tiny smidge lower than Ohio State's. However, there is a solid dropoff to #3.

It's like this:

Ohio State
Florida

Michigan
USC
Louisville
Tennessee

West Virginia
Texas

Ohio State and Florida have been the CLASS of the nation thus far, and nobody touches those 2 yet.

i was the lone number 1 vote for michigan, who i think have been playing possibly the best football in the country since opening weekend. their defense is amazing, not to mention manningham. that being said, they have a possible upset brewing this weekend. manningham being out may hurt immensely

How is there a dropoff between Ohio State/Florida and then Michigan. I think Michigan is #2 at worst, and possibly #1.

That's insane. Absolutely insane.

Florida: beat Tennessee, beat LSU, beat Alabama
Ohio State: beat Texas, beat Iowa, beat Penn State
Michigan: beat Notre Dame, beat .... Wisconsin

It's not close, man.

Have you watched the games? You are saying that doesnt count for anything? Its Michigan's fault that they havent played the teams that Ohio State and Florida has played? And, what in the world do you have Alabama on Florida's list for....and then only somewhat have Wisconsin on Michigan's list? Wisconsin is better than Alabama. Beating Alabama is not a quality win for Floida. If Michigan played Florida, with a healthy #1 WR, they would beat Florida. That's my......opinion.....from watching both teams play multiple times. That is the nature of college football. They have not played each other so we have to use an opinion. If you have watched both Florida and Michigan play multiple times you should know who the better team is, its not Florida. UT could not run teh ball at all when they played Florida, LSU handed them the game with 5 turnovers, and Alabama is not a quality win. What quality team has Florida beat the way that Michigan beat Notre Dame?

A) I can promise you I watch more games than you do. I guarantee it.

B) Yes, its Michigan's fault they don't schedule better opponents.

C) Florida has been the beneficiary of breaks, but their defense from top to bottom is one of the best 3 in the nation ... right there with Michigan's.

D) Notre Dame is extremely overrated. Michigan did benefit from at least 14 points on TO runbacks.

E) Alabama and Wisconsin are very close in how good they are. I shouldn't have had a elipsis (sp?) there.

F) I can't stress enough that I watch more football than you. Unless you watch it when you sleep. :)

G) You're Tennessee love is clouding your unbiased football fan opinion.

H) This is fun.

I) Would you feel better if I amended it to this:

Ohio State
Florida

Michigan

Louisville
Tennessee
West Virginia
Texas

Would you?
