Sources confirmed that while details are still being negotiated, the university's offer is very lucrative and there is no firm deadline on a decision.

Gruden's decision likely will hinge on the money the school is willing to pay for his potential staff, the sources say.

"Right now, the money is there for him [Gruden], but they aren't as close as he would like for his assistants," one source said. "It could happen as soon as this weekend or go into next week, but he's pretty firm where he is and has already spoken with the guys he wants to be on the staff with him."

According to a different source, "He's told them they aren't close enough on money for the staff. He's very interested, but if they don't come up with what they need for the assistants, he's told them he's out."

Cool story, did you know Taco Bell had Dorito flavored shells?

Guys,

I don't know if VR is really trolling or giving legit info. Whichever it is, it is funny and entertaining.

What about the following?

Yesterday, VR said Chattanooga reporter will have big story...and Hargis did.

VR points out that Hyams and company said UTADept. have not met with JG. OK, so that means Haslam/Ergen (or their representatives) could have met with him 20 times.

VR's silly late night meeting posts are not totally out of the question when you look at the crazy times these when "significant news/rumors" pop.

There are a couple of more decent points, but I don't have time to go into them. Just food for thought...

way to copy and paste from an online article posted last night...go play some puck

I don't know why anyone is believing this VR guy, because go back and read his posts, his timelines are extremely inconsistent. Plus he gone from "Gruden's a done deal" to "Gruden has contract in hand" to "Gruden is considering" to now "Gruden is still in play".

BOOM! there we have it....

According to Jimmy Hyams of WNML radio in Knoxville, Gruden, while he appreciated the opportunity, “is OUT as a candidate” for the Vols’ coaching job. Gruden reportedly informed UT officials of his decision after phone conversations — but apparently no face-to-face meetings — took place over the past week.

The part that JG and UT spoke is the only part that is really true. My source has confirmed that JG told UT that he can't make a decision right now....

Our earlier thoughts on NFL peers is surely in play. My report that the Chargers are very much in play and there staff has even contacted Gruden about possibly coaching there and being hired late December.

I can also confirm that as I reported this earlier that UT admin were having conversations with majority of UT staffers regarding a back-up plan. That plan is Butch Jones. So I strongly expect you to hear UT working on communicating with BJ about UT open coaching position.

As i've been able to give you this information remember that all those others who are now reporting these reports are now suggesting JG and UT spoke? Where did you hear this first.

I am unable to discuss what is happening right now or what the UT plan is with regards to JG. I will hopefully find out later in the day.

After hearing conversations I strongly believe UT will make another run at JG. UT as I reported knew JG had cold feet. He got the contract he wanted and still this happens? Something is happening with this issue.

Okay seriously why do you put a big giant orange "BOOM!!!" in every single one of your posts??

Especially this one.. This post didn't even bring good news... You're telling us "Gruden is OUT" yet you start the post with a big giant "BOOM!!" like we're supposed to be happy about it.

You make no sense.

VP, your source as you like to call it, is full of crap obviously. Gruden's agent has confirmed there is no interest and has not been any. If you really do have a source, you need to find a new one because you are getting played.

Sounds like one of those customer service reps trying to sound American but late getting home to curried rice in Bombay, India, so they cut you short.

If I was a betting man, I'd bet anyone and everyone that wanted to take the bet that Gruden isn't coming. I don't care what VolReporter spews (and you guys should be embarrassed to believe him).

And as many speculated, the hour-by-hour appearance of Vol Reporter went *poof* as soon as the truth was known. Nice social experience of gullibility.

Hart will have a new coach named by dec 15th, thats been his deadline all along. He will not wait on Gruden, General Neyland or anyone else. I have a feeling our next head coach is being interviewed right now.

Given that I have no inside sources, and can only keep up with reading so much of the madness on VN, and am relying on my old (literally) memory of things that I have read; but wasn't there some information about Gruden wanting to stick it to Tampa Bay and collecting his last payment sometime in the the first half of December?

This would fit the time frame of having a hire by the 15th.

Just saying..............

So much smoke being blown up everyone's you know what that it makes as much sense as anything else out there.

I will have more on this later. At this time I am not at home, i'm instead at a gathering with other UT fans just so happens. There are other Orange that I have been talking about the recent developments, including former Vol players Morley, Hefney who all call Canada home.... wonferful Orange and we all carry that passion strongly!

The past few weeks have been very difficult but fun. I have experienced and have granted access to wonderful Orange (ALL OF YOU ORANGE) what I see and do all the time.

Sometimes it's hard for me to control what reports can be said and done. This is a difficult time to really get anything straight. The facts are rumors and this is how it begins....... What I have done and said were FACTUAL EVENTS! I KNOW IT and all the ORANGE now knows it even if you really are questioning the legit man. It's been true.....

It's amazing how other UT insiders are claiming certain things. HYAMS, AINGE, GRISWALD, RUCKER, and national outlets......

It's very quiet right now in Tennessee! Everyone is just settling all the news and us ORANGE will go from there.... I can assure you that UT and JG met last week. Offers in hand. I know it and they know it. Some already deny it and some even base there reports on simple explanation of how could it be if they never met....

BOOM! We will wait and see what the next move is. This afternoon I have heard nothing about JG being completely out. So lets leave it at this. We can wait for the next move!

I would know when it's over
