The Vols in the Final Four?

The Vols in the Final Four?

Odds are definitely against it, but should it happen B.P. would probably get a "big" raise, big as in possibly a high six or seven figure increase.

OSU has many flaws. No bench, no true point guard, and lack of big men. They play 4 wing players. Lauderdale is a great defender and rebounder, but on offense all he can do is dunk. We can definitely take them.

And whoever said Dave Lighty is a top 15 pick, LOL.

No bench, which I really thought would be a serious issue, but they answered that with their play in the Big 10 tourney. I wouldn't say they lack big men... Lauderdale is an ogre and all of their wing men have good size. But Turner is their point guard.. Point-forward, and that's what creates matchup problems... put Williams on Lauderdale, but who does Chism guard? What assignments would you expect?

I agree that they are a very good team, but relying on one player tends to backfire at times. UT has been very good at locking down the best players of the opposition this year.

Not always - see syracuse with carmelo in '03.

If someone gets in foul trouble, they are screwed. Turner handling the ball isn't the greatest thing for them, he had 10 turnovers in the big 10 semis. Lauderdale is a tank on D, but how can they guard Chism and Williams? I really do not even know what to expect against them in terms of match-ups. All I know is we can not give Diebler open looks like we did to Freeman, if that happens, we are in trouble.

The victories by Murray St., Cornell, St. Mary's and Northern Iowa, not to mention Bulter also in the Sweet Sixteen, validates the claim that the Vols have a good chance of making it to the Final Four. Every relevant sport, including football and the NBA, should have a an all-inclusive tournament like March Madness. College basketball is the only sport which lends itself to such fascinating parity. Long live college basketball.

All good points. Thank goodness for the rest before the madness starts again. We looked spent while and after beating Ohio. Fortunately, Ohio was more spent.

Yeah, but Lauderdale is the only one who consistently gets into foul issues, and they bring in Kyle Madsen off the bench. Diebler can't shoot off balance or with a hand in his face... and considering he can't drive it, I would park hopson on him. Turner's turnovers are amplified a little bit considering he is the primary ball handler on every play... I do have confidence in Pearl's ability to neutralize a single player on a team, so if we do draw Ohio State it will be interesting to see what he can draw up vs. Turner

Madsen is garbage IMO. Diebler gets so many open looks tho because Turner, Lighty, and Bufford are good enough off the dribble for drive n kicks. I agree with Turner's turnovers being amplified, but it shows that if you play solid, in your face D on him he will budge.

What I do like is that we have athletic wing players that can stay with them. JP, Scotty Hop, and Killa Cam are great athletes with good wingspans which will help. Even BMaze has a good wingspan, he should do fine and I think we should put him on Lighty.

You obviously haven't watched them play. Plus they have the best player in the country this year and a player like that can take you a long way.
Yea but when only have one player on the team its whole hell of alot harder to do so. Especially when they are gonna be in a dog fight today with gtech and our vols wont be an easy out! They already struggled with UCSB in the first round.

Yeah, but he's only coming in to replace Lauderdale. I think Maze would be better against Buford than Lighty.

I think Ohio State is manageable, but I think they are a better team than Georgia Tech... GT has more flaws than OSU, that's why I'd rather play them

They lose so much defensively and rebounding when Madsen comes in. If he's on the court with Wayne and BWill, we should capitalize. As long as Maze isn't on Turner. I like Maze on Lighty because BMaze comes to play in big games. But hey, I trust Bruce. That's why he's on the sideline and we're not lol.

They have more than one player...they have 4 guys who average over 12 points a game. It's not a one man show.

...They won by 17

Ohio State is overrated. They are a product of the ESPN hype machine.

If you look at their resume they only have a few good wins and it took a miracle shot for them to beat a horrible Michigan team in the big ten tourney.

Ditto. Pearl should have no problem neutralizing Turner and with their short bench TN should wear them out before the end of the first half.

I think if NI knocks off Ms we go to the four.
Who woulda thunk it in January.
What a job Bruce has done this year.

It looks like Kalin Lucas, Michigan States leading scorer, tore his Achilles. Things sure are falling in our favor.

Man that would totally suck. Especially now that Michigan State has an excellent shot to make the FF it seemed.
