I know it all starts with the coach but imo UT has not had a top qb capable since Casey Clausen. Other words stick them on the winners of the BCS over the last ten or so years they don't win. Fair to say?

the bottom line is nobody knows. I disagree that we haven't had a capable quarterback sense clausen. ainge took us to the SEC championship game and barring a bad interception, would have won it.the guy that just left here had all the talent in the world but had a complete bozo for a head coach.he might have been great underneath a coach who taught discipline

At this point, with our current talent level and experience at the QB position and receivers, we need someone who won't lose us the game. We have to settle for the best game manager at this stage, IMO. None of these guys are going to light it up, at east not this year. If they do, I will be pleasantly surprised and gladly eat my crow.

I think half of the people in this thread are still drunk from last night or they are speaking a foreign language! WTF?

If Casey Clausen had been here the past 5 years, I'd bet he'd now be viewed like Tyler Bray. Football is a team game.

What kind of qb do you think Bray would have turned into at Bama? Interesting...and scary!

I hate to mention his name, but looking at what he did with Crompton, I would have like to see what Kiffin would have done with Bray had he not left.

Could we please stop acting like Crompton turned into Joe Montana. He merely went from god awful to serviceable against a softer schedule after playing the game of his life against UGA.

If Crompton had Cutcliffe for 4 years, I really think he could've done well at UT.

I think Riley Ferguson has what it takes to be the future. Maybe not so much this year but he what it takes. From what I hear half the team thinks the same way. Wouldnt mind seeing him take the job at some point this season!

Maybe that's why CBJ recruited all those QBs. maybe that's why you should stop beating up on our QBs until they have played some games to justify your doubt or make a liar out of you. Not meaning to be snide and not talking about just you. But this constant whining about our players and the team needs to cease and we embrace the season that's coming.

This is pretty much what Bama does every year. This is why their QBs really don't do anything when they get to the NFL. They just run their horses behind a big offensive line which UT has this year btw, and just has their QB to throw safe passes.
